St Germain's Magical Journey,
This review is from: From Detroit to St. Germain: the Early Works from St. Germain (Audio CD)
I have come to love the music of Ludovic Navarra aka St Germain in reverse. Having started with Tourist then Boulevard and now this I see this album as a musical journey which takes you through from his more house orientated early stuff to the jazz orientated stuff on Tourist. It therefore might lack the cohesion of an album, but it is still a wonderful progression through his fabulous music. A must for lovers of St Germain.

A laid-back fusion of classic house and trance!,

This review is from: From Detroit to St. Germain: the Early Works from St. Germain (Audio CD)
First off: there's some stunning music on this CD! It ranges from classic house/US garage style with big fat beats and irresistable layered vocals and cool low-down spoken samples to pure trance, with breathtaking strings and keyboards and a way of working the beats so that you're always kept hanging on for the punch. Being a compilation of already released work, it lacks the cohesion of the album format. Also missing is THE classic mix of Alabama Blues (to be found on the original EP whose name I forget) - which is the reason I bought this CD in the first place. Never mind! I have been more than amply rewarded! Once again, Ludovic Navarre brings a great big smile to my face. 4 fat funky stars.

Having spent the last ten years buying every single release from ludovik navarre in all his many guises, this album collection of early works was very welcome. This album shows how far ahead of the rest of the french producers he was with some excellent early releases. Moby's Play has no comparison to this album, both good albums but very different non the less. Even stranger to out tracks such as jack the groove, french, and my faviorate prelusion is mystifying. Musical genious!Well worth anyone's money!
