Product Description

Album Description

• Detroit funk and soul producer Dave Hamilton has become recognised in recent years for his wonderful productions for artists such as Little Anne and OC Tolbert in the Northern Soul world and Billy Garner in the funk one.

• In the late 60s Hamilton released a rare and sought-after single on his own TCB label – ‘Pisces Place’/ ‘Cracklin’ Bread’. It was lifted from a proposed album called "Soul Suite" that Hamilton recorded but didn’t release. We gather together for the first time the tracks that were supposed to make up that album.

• The CD also collects some of the funky Hamilton tracks that have proved to be dancefloor winners.

• It includes instrumental versions of several released funk and soul classics such as Chico and Buddy’s ‘Can You Dig It?’ and Little Anne’s ‘Who You Trying To Fool’.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange Funk, 6 Oct 2009

Wow! Cracklin Bread..i heard this on the Driver Parallel Lines game for the Xbox, its an absolute full on 70s groovy funk classic dominated by Dave`s brilliant Wah wah guitar, its more full on and better, but in a similar vein to the classic Starsky and Hutch theme tune. That vibe comes to the fore on 2 or 3 other gooduns on this CD,particulary Soul Suite,Aint it a groove and Tell your Mama.Sadly the record flounders in places due to a mix of poor production, and some rather strange and frankly awful middle of the road tunes that wouldnt be out of place as department store muzak. All in all it`s worth buying if you love a little bit of pure 70s wah wah funk and im definitely glad i bought it,even with the flaws, that just adds to the charm, afterall who wants perfection?

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Funky Grooves, 25 Sep 2011
By A. Swinney "Marco Esquandoles" - Published on Amazon.com

Pleasant surprise. Great for fans of rare funk/soul music. Solid funk grooves. For maximum enjoyment listen at full volume in a rusty old P.O.S. parked into the side of a Lexus.
