A light read 16 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
I fail to see how such a weak and basic book can be advertised as an "ultimate guide" on financial matters. It's a "Dummies Guide" at most. As an alternative, I would recommend "Love is Not Enough: A Smart Woman's Guide to Money" by Merryn Somerset Webb, who provides thoughtful, well-researched advice and has a reputed professional background in finance.

Sexist and very basic 30 Nov 2009
By Ana
Format:Paperback
This book is written on the basic premise that women are inferior at understanding financial concepts and managing their financial future than men, which is obviously highly sexist and not true in the majority of cases. This is an insult to most women's intelligence all the more so as the author is a woman. The content is very basic and the steps given can be found in many non-gender specific financial books and articles. Moreover, basic data contained in the book is incorrect such as the average salary in the UK (the author states 30k rather than 22k) which makes we wonder about the accuracy of the overall content. I was very disappointed at this book's promise of being an "ultimate guide".

Detox your Finances 30 May 2009
Format:Paperback
I found this book an interesting and easy read, especially as it included some of the psychology behind why we might have a particular view of money, and why we might have developed certain habits. The writing style made it very accessible, for what can be an intimidating topic for some of us. Practical advice with an optimistic view that it's never too late to start building your financial security.
