Henry Stephens "Book of the Farm" is about 2000 pages worth of information that was essential to the farmer in the mid to late 1800's and even into the early 1900's. It was published in several formats. The most common one was a 3 volume set. Though it was also published as 2 volumes of about 1000 pages each, and as 6 volumes of about 300+ pages each. The originals are now very hard to find because "The Book of the Farm" featured importantly in the BBC series, Victorian farm.
This edition (978-1154902785) is clearly one of the six volumes, but which one? Very frustrating not knowing what I'm buying. Anyway, there are modern editions of the complete 3 volume set -- search for B001Q1AD9U or 1849022569. You can also get the individual volumes of the 3 volume set -- see 184902250X for one of the paperbacks with links to the others.
I have the 3 vol. set. It's fascinating, to the modern reader with some interest in Victoria England or, in my case, the English countryside. Just try to find the real thing!
