Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review:
In a nutshell:
The love generation is an endangered species with the return of everybody’s favourite human hating alien and his painfully bizarre array of people busting weapons.

The lowdown:
Crypto (or at least one of his clones) is back! With his previous genocidal plans foiled, he’s now trying his luck in the 60s. No longer restricted to America, you can now tour the world with missions set in the USSR, Britain and Japan which revolves around a bizarre conspiracy involving ninjas and rival aliens. The first sensible change to the gameplay though is the reduction of the stealth elements from the first game and the addition of new weapons like the meteor strike gun and the killer Frisbee throwing Disclocator. Combat is still pretty shallow, but Crypto’s psychic powers and the chance to wreck whole cities with your flying saucer provide plenty of amusement.

Most exciting moment:
Destroying humans is always more fun with a friend and unlike the last game this includes a co-operative mode that lets you play the whole of the story mode with a pal. Since Crypto is a clone anyway it’s not much of a stretch for the plot either.

Since you ask:
THQ has announced a deal with Fox Broadcasting to make a computer animated TV show based on Destroy All Humans! One of the writers from cartoon King of the Hill has been brought on to work on it but there’s no clue as to when it will start airing.

The bottom line:
Shallow and silly, but even more fun than the first.-HARRISON DENT

Manufacturer's Description

5.0 out of 5 stars "Make War Not Love" is as true as it gets in the 60's, 20 Oct 2006

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
A definite improvement on the original, but not all that much different on game play and story. The graphics are once again surprisingly excellent, which you wouldn't expect from this type of PS2 game. The story is still as strange and funny as the firsts. The weapons and abilities are even better now, and as unique. The game play is a lot like the firsts, but there are tonne of new features, new locations, and new characters.

Including number 1's weapons, you have now got the all new: The Dislocator, which throws objects/people into the air and then they just bounce crazily off everything. The Beast Burrower, which is by far the coolest, this sends a giant worm in the ground to pop out of the ground and eat whatever target you have picked. The Meteor Strike, used for extra damage, sends a meteor down from space to squash anything. The Gastro Gun, which drops an alien named Gastro, hr shoots nearby enemies and sucks in their attacks. As well as the old mental abilities he can now make his victims follow him or protect him, and the mind flash, which makes all of his witnesses forget everything at your threat level becomes zero.

It is amazing the absolutely massive locations, including America, Britain, Japan, the Moon and the Soviet Union. In each of these countries/communities he goes around in one massive city, everything is done in excellent detail, time, and near proper maps. The best thing is that you can destroy recognisable places, including the Big Ben. There are so many places, and they all have secret weapons and upgrades. In this one collecting DNA is no longer the main issue, which is good, you now only haft to collect DNA and the remains of peoples for upgrades.

The soundtrack is absolutely superb, classics from the 1960's (which is when the game is set). Your main opponents are the MI5 and the KGB. Crypto still has his witty and funny one-liners, and it is hilarious what he says sometimes after he has used his "muck" gun. Overall I think this is a brilliant game, the levels are no longer repetitive like the firsts. This game will truly have you flying around for months and months, for the sheer fun of it. The story itself is not very long, but there are so many different ways you can do it. For anyone who want a laugh and a long lasting game.

10/10

4.0 out of 5 stars Destroy All Russians not Humans!!!, 14 Feb 2007
By BXMAN2000 (Wiltshire, UK) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
By looking at the title's sub-heading "Make War Not Love" makes you think cool a giant hippy killfest, but it's not. Instead you get to kill Russians which is not really destroying all humans.

However this is a pretty good game as you play alien anti-hero Crypto, the hilarious character who takes the mickey out of everything. The fun factor increases with weapons such as the "Anal Probe" which you can tell by the title what the weapon is based for. The gameplay is pretty good, especially the aiming aid which shows how much life a person has left and the missions can be quite challenging without it being too long or too difficult. The cut scenes are brilliant as you can choose what to say and when. For example, you could cut right to the chase and ask what is the next mission or you could say a witty retort like "my uncle told me not to talk to strangers."

However the graphics are not the best, for example the human character lacks life-like features such as eyes blinking. And as I siad in my introduction, the aim of the game is to destroy all humans, not destroy all russians or get sidetracked by some big busty Russian female agent. Though this does contribute the lifespan of the game which is already short.

With some more missions this would be one of the most essential sequals in gaming history, but despite that it is a fantastic game to play bursting with originality.
