Product Description

Product Description

The Borg have found a secret passage through subspace and are using it to attack the Federation. But the passage is only one of many that the Enterprise crew have discovered inside a nebula. Working together, Captains Picard and Dax must find the right one before they can lead a counterstrike to stop the Borg invasion. Meanwhile, Captain Riker and the crew of the Titan are being held hostage by the powerful reclusive aliens know as the Caeliar. Their freedom hinges of the action of fellow-prisoner Erica Hernandez, commander of the long-lost starship Columbia. Hernandez has lived among the Caeliar for centuries, enduring disasters, accidental time travel and interstellar exiles. After so long, can she be persuaded to fight for her freedom, or is it too late for the Titan as well as for her?

The second book of a trilogy is almost always the hardest read, the main thrust of the story is made here and frequently they lack the action of the opener or closer.

However, Part 2 of the Destiny trilogy strikes the balance very well. It does lay down most of the ground work for the final part, but it also stands up itself, with its own action and intrigue. The excellent characters hold through from the first book and it's a compelling read.

The overall stroy remains strong, which is a highlight of the entire series.

Most of all it makes you want to carry on through and read the third book, which I did straight after!

action on page 1 8 Oct 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This author is one of the good ones, having just finished the previous book in this series with a nice cliff-hanger I eagerly opened this book and wasn't disappointed- i'm reading these books at dinnertime at work and i'm ended up taking more than the half hour that i'm allowed because the book is a great read. Don't tell my boss.

follow up classic 19 Jan 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
this book is a great follow up to the first book (see Star Trek Destiny: Gods of Night) as it follows the tale of four different captains which is a feat in literature.

A very second-novel-in-a-trilogy feel
The second novel served as a good continuation of the story - although it still had a little of the second novel in a trilogy feel to it. Read more
