All you need to know but were afraid to ask !,

This review is from: Destination: Moonbase Alpha (space:1999): The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Space: 1999 (Paperback)
Robert E Wood's unofficial guide to space 1999 is a scintillating read! every episode from year 1 and 2 is reviewed, dissected and commented on by Wood and many of the cast and crew who worked on the show. Want to know why Barry morse left after the 1st series and never came back?,lots of rumours about this over the yrs but here you finally get the full version from Morse himself. Lots of great information here.. for a few tidbits..Landau comes across as being a scene grabber and 2nd season producer Fred Freiberger is given a less than stellar comments by the cast and crew.Intrigued? then you need this book! Wood seems to be a bit of a generous marker reviewing some episodes far better than they deserve! but gives a fair account on a lot of them.
Space 1999 has gained a cult following over the yrs, never particularly successful in the u.k but it acheived moderate success abroad. Here you'll learn just about all you need to know!

Nice,
This review is from: Destination: Moonbase Alpha (space:1999): The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Space: 1999 (Paperback)
The book is mostly edited text from conventions and web pages, so there is really not many additional insights, but, nevertheless, it is a nice overview of the series. Well done.

An extremely well researched book which gives lots of original and highly detailed information and observations. This is not a very visual book so don't expect much in the way of illustrations. However, this is compensated for by the depth and breadth of information. There is in-depth analysis of every episode (from both seasons) and it is therfore a useful companion to the excellent Network DVD release of series 1.
