5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking read 5 Dec 2013

Although this series is written for children, there's a lot for grown-ups that children wouldn't get. At times hilarious, this series had me laughing out loud in several occasions. It helps if you can understand German, Russian, Spanish, Latin and Welsh (oes, Cymraeg!) as the author has sprinkled phrases in these languages liberally throughout. It's worth taking the time to translate these as one or two contain some of the best jokes.

The series is really one, long story and the later books have several references to characters and events from the earlier ones. So it's best to read through this series in order.

I thoroughly enjoyed episodes 1 to 5 and can't wait for the sixth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly entertaining romp 21 Nov 2013

I really enjoyed the dialogues and the interaction between the young (accidental) superheroes and the adults. Also the spoof on British and American spy novels with the Americans obsessed with technology but naive and the British flegmatic and devious. If you liked this, you might also like "The Robin Hood hacker collection" by Carolyn McCray.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy but Brilliant! 31 Aug 2013

Aimed at teenagers but suitable for everyone, this book is filled with crazy humour. At times it feels like you're watching a Carry-On film! Yet at the same time it's a brilliant, well written and exciting Sci Fi adventure, taking the reader on a wild trip from London to the uranium mines on the penal colony of Alpha Centauri 4. We glimpse many other worlds too - colonies of the USZ - the United States of the Zodiac. There's a bewildering array of characters and scene changes, yet a coherent story runs through it all. Well worth a read. As the header says, Crazy but brilliant!
