As a single adult who long ago more or less lost a child-like view of the world, I am hardly the target audience for this pair of films. Whilst I can still happily watch & enjoy films I was brought up with, out of a sense of nostalgia at least, I have to admit that the whole "Toy Story" genre of CGI animations has left me uninterested. I like a film to have a decent story, and it's difficult enough getting that out of a regular film these days, never mind one aimed at kids.
I came across something on the net about Minions, which caught my interest, so I went "What the heck..." & bought this for something different to watch over the Yuletide season. Given the super-hero, or rather super-villain theme, I wasn't expecting too much of the story. As expected, it is a tad contrived in places. And having given you all the reasons why I shouldn't like it... Yep, it's still getting 5* from me. There's plenty of genuine humour, as well as sight gags & sound gags. The voice acting is really rather good, and the Minions steal just about every scene they're in, whichever of the two films we're talking about. If even I can like this, you're going to have to have a real sense of humour failure not to like it too!
