After eight years Desperate Housewives finally draws to a close with this final season. The magic ingredients that made it such a phenomenon in the first place are all here - mystery, secrets, love, betrayal, death and more. There is a real sense of closure this season as the show appears to come full circle with a mystery arc that, for the first time since the first season, permeates each and every housewife's life in one way or another. The development of the main story arc across the season is strong and filled with the many twists and turns we have come to expect from Desperate Housewives over the years.

The writing remains top notch with more zingers than a KFC restaurant and emotion that always hits you hard. The four leads remain at the top of their game with Hatcher, Huffman and Longoria all remaining on fine form, but perhaps special mention should be reserved for Marcia Cross whose portrayal of Bree this season is incredible. Bree takes a central role in this season's story arc and it really shows how far the character has developed since we first set eyes on her icy cold facade during the pilot episode.

Despite being a huge fan of the show I felt the time was right for Desperate Housewives to bow out whilst it still could on its own terms. Eight years just feels right, and it allowed the writers to bring the show to a fitting conclusion. The final episode is perhaps one of my favourite endings to a television show ever. It's pitch perfect, with just the right amount of humour, drama and emotion. It features perhaps one of the best scenes the show has ever produced with the unforgettable Kathryn Joosten and the final moments will leave you laughing, crying and gasping - just as it always has.

I got this as a gift at Christmas but only recently started watching it as I knew it was the last series ever and I was worried it would end disappointingly like Lost or something. Well I needn't have worried, it ended perfectly. This last season is so edgy! It has some really dark moments, with the ladies hiding the huge secret from the end of season 7 and Bree's copper boyfriend on a mission to find the truth you feel that at any moment they could be found out, and you don't know how it's all going to end up until practically the very end, so you are on the edge of your seat for all the season! We have some really funny moments as always, Gabby and Carlos are brilliant this season more so than ever. Lynette and Tom my favourite couple are at loggerheads and I was really rooting for them. There are some really sad moments too, and shockingly sad.

I should take this time to say a big thanks to Kathryn Joosten who portrayed the fantastic Karen McCluskey. What a legend both the Actress and Character were, Kathryn died 20 says after her last scenes in DH and it was so right that she was there to the end, there is a music montage in the last episode and it makes me cry every time I watch it, the music is perfect.

I am sad this show has ended, i'm more sad that we wont get to see more of Renee as she really grew on me and became a favourite even though she was only there for two seasons, she is hilarious at times. I also really liked the new guy Ben the Aussie, I wish we could have more of him too but oh well...

Some things I would have liked for the finale is a mention of Tom's daughter Kayla, we haven't heard anything about her since she moved and I always thought there should have been a mention of her, even if it was just Tom talking to her on the phone or something.

I hate following the crowd, and when DH hit the screen I dug my heels in and refused to partake of it brand of entertainment. Then my life turned upside down and my entertainment at home was limited to love film and I started to engage with various series.
Desperate Housewives became desperately needed as each episode seemed to reflect my life. this will always be one of my most favourite series ever.

If you've seen the rest, then you must see this. This last season sees the story return to its top form. Sure, the ending is a bit rushed but eight years [or 15 or so in series terms] is a long time for any series to run and this has certainly kept the momentum and interest.
Containing 6 DVD's this final instalment brings the whole story to its conclusion. What's good is it doesn't just drop the characters, it attempts to give some idea of what happens to them after the series has finished. It also introduces new characters that have secrets of their own ....whatever they may be.

I am a massive desperate housewives fan, and I have to say this season does not disappoint!
It starts with a fantastic plot line of Alejandro's death, and all housewives are dealing with their own consequences from this, whether it be guilt, suspicion or even the threat of suicide for one character. I can't rate the acting of Marcia Cross (Bree) high enough in this season - she is an amazingly skilled actress when presented with even the toughest of plots and she carried them out with all sincerity and emotion that a character in those situations really would. She has always been one of my favourite housewives and this season her talent is truly at its highest point.
I can't fault this season at all, although I do feel the Tom/Lynette storyline was getting a bit dragged out, but that is just my own personal opinion and not a fault with the season. Even in these scenes, both Felicity Huffman and Doug Savont acted phenomenally well, as did all other actors/actresses in this season.
Overall it is a brilliant season, as all others have been, and I will continue to watch them on DVD throughout my life. I wish that this season wasn't the last and more would be filmed, but it is a fantastic ending to a fantastic show. Well done Desperate Housewives!
