Book Description

May 2002 The Last T'en Trilogy, Book 3
In a land of enchantment and betrayal, an empress sworn to a new future must face the
world she left behind. . .

With her wine-dark eyes and silver hair, Imoshen is the last T’En empress--blessed with exotic beauty and an extraordinary gift for healing. Once the enemy of the fierce Ghebite General Tulkhan, Imoshen surrendered herself and her island to the powerful invader to save her people. But what began as a political alliance blossomed into a passionate love, and now they share both a kingdom and a newborn son.

Yet Imoshen’s past still comes back to haunt her, as the T’En renegade, Reothe, refuses to relinquish his once betrothed. Believing Tulkhan will reject Imoshen if she carries another man’s child, Reothe uses T’En trickery to seduce her; but Tulkhan’s love proves stronger. Angered and betrayed by Reothe, Imoshen still cannot bring herself to forsake her fellow T’En. For Imoshen is hungry for the ultimate intimacy--the sacred mind-touch that she can share only with Reothe. It is a longing that could jeopardize her heart--and perhaps even the future of Fair Isle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Such a damn shame!!!! 27 Dec 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have just finished reading this series, and I am very disappointed, and feel a desperate need to exorcise this demon from my mind. The first book, "Broken vows" had a great deal going for it, with a good cast of characters. The main character is a female T'En, a beautiful wraith-like creature with magical abilities. In book one she was fiery and courageous and full of determination, and I really liked her. Unfortunately, in books two and three she become an insipid, whining, mewling, cowardly idiot. If I didn't know better, I'd say this series was started by a woman, and finished by a man, who thinks women are totally stupid. If the character of Imoshen were a real person, I'd be tempted to slap her, and tell her to wake up. My copies of books two and three are in very bad shape, because on several occasions, I became so infuriated with the character of Imoshen, I actually threw the book across the room in anger. Imoshen is the kind of female who make me ashamed to be a woman. If you like inane slop, skip book one, and go on to the second and third books in the series. If you're looking for a female lead character who can inspire admiration, don't bother with this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars will appeal to lovers of epic and romantic fantasy 3 Jun 2002
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Reothe, the last T'En warrior, thought to marry Imoshen, the last T'En empress, when the Ghebite General and his warriors invaded their island home of Fair Isle. To insure that her people would survive, Imoshen married the General and gave him an heir. In time she came to love Tulkhan and their marriage was more than a political merger.

Tulkhan and the Empress yearn only for peace so they can enjoy life but circumstances drive a wedge between them. Reothe still wants Imoshen and if truth were known, she loves him in a way she can never love the General. Yet when Tulkan's half-brother tries to take Fair Isle by force. Tulkhan, Imoshen and Reothe are forced into an alliance, using T'En magic and brute force, that might bring the powerful Ghebite empire to its knees.

This is the third and final novel in "The last T'En" trilogy and DESPERATE ALLIANCES is as good as it's two predecessors. Cory Daniels ties up all the loose ends and answers all the remaining questions so that readers of this sword-and-sorcery romantic fantasy will feel totally satiated upon completion of this novel. Ms. Daniels is a first-class storyteller whose words will appeal to lovers of epic and romantic fantasy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected downer ending...(no spoilers) 29 Jan 2013
By JP Van Hulle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really fell in love with this trilogy due to the great and unusual characters and the intense relationships revolving around the primary characters. Therefore, I was really determined to find and purchase this book, even at extra expense to see how it all turned out, and would definitely give the first two books 5 stars each.

I found the ending to be unexpectedly dissatisfying, with no clear HEA after all of the challenges the characters faced. It's almost as if there were supposed to be more books and the author felt that she needed to wrap things up suddenly, because she'd been informed that this was to be the last book in the series. Even if that were true, the ending could have been much, much more satisfying. That would have been well within the author's obvious writing abilities. The unsatisfying ending reduced my rating regretfully to a 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars O Warrior Mine 3 Dec 2002
By Margaret Blain - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Three warriors vie for love and land with single-minded purpose, sorted haunted pasts and noble dreams of righting a war torn country.
Blazing passions sore midst heart-stopping peril to friends and countrymen as the battle for Fair Isle sparks up with barrelling breakneck pace.
Who will win the last T'En princess' heart? The magnificent barbarian captor or the fearsome beauty, sorcerous renegade Roethe? who with relentless unwavering pursuit marches to his own drum to regain Fair Isle and the women pledged to him with a sacred bonding ritual as old and as binding as time?
I liked least the part about the T'En baby born too soon who therefore loses some of his powers. Also the part about the blinding of the last pure T'En male-altho his powers could (with time) be restored. I liked best the idea that the supposedly 'bad guy' lasted through thick and thin with honor and grace, to become a helpmate to restore Fair Isle. I loved that idea. I could not have asked for a better ending.
