Purchased this lamp in April 2011 and has now failed. The lamp itself is very sturdy and looks really good. The touch operation is good and has variable light settings. The 40w bulb provides sufficient light. The problem with the unit is in the bulb holder and lamp shade fitting which has failed totally. The unit gets reasonable use but the lampholder has become brittle and has broken apart meaning the glass lightshade became loose and when trying to remove it to check the problem the screw fixing has shattered making the lamp unusable. Very disappointed, would not buy another of this type as it is expensive for 9 months use
