Great read from start to finish! 25 May 2010
By Mary Gramlich - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
We all spend a portion of our lives on some personal quest or goal. Some of us may seek love or friendship while others are looking for another type of adventure where the mystical and imagined are involved. Everyone seeks fulfillment for their quest in their own way and that is what Maxwell Barrett, Marquess of Lindbergh has been doing his entire life with his search for the lost City of Atlantis. Max's search is for something that has no tangible proof of its existence but he believes it did exist and finding the remains will see all of his dreams have been fulfilled.

At the age of 13 Max found a clue ridden map validating in his mind the existence of Atlantis which placed him on a mission to find the lost city and prove his worth among the other legend seekers at his exclusive club Solomon's. He has spent years trying to decipher the twists and turns of the riddled consumed map with its' yet to be revealed clues but not for a lack of trying. An unexpected twist of fate leads him to Sabine Tobias who not only has answers to his many questions but also has the ability to split his heart wide open with something he never felt before love.

Sabine leads a secretive and very obscure life with her aunts running an emporium filled with creams and lotions designed to keep a woman youthful. Everything about her seems to be a ruse and the more Max looks the more he finds intriquing as he uncovers her secrets and all too soon learns that her knowledge of Atlantis is built not in dreams but reality as she is a direct descendent of the mythical land. Max warms his heart and opens his arms to her sweet and innocent ways but never turns his back knowing that she is keeping something from him and as much as she is telling him there is another side to this cream that seems to make every woman look younger and he wonders again does this involve Atlantis/

It also appears he is not the only one looking at her and her aunts and the darkness that is following them is so evil that it can destroy everything and use Sabine's secrets against her. Max is also dealing with the mysterious deaths one after another of the highest ranking generals in her majesty's service. They are each killed in horrid and vile fashion and he wonders if this also has something to do with the map and secrets it holds and keeps asking himself is Sabine and the search for Atlantis worth his life - quickly he answers with a resounding yes.

Once Max and Sabine combine their efforts and go from one clue to the next trying to find where Atlantis is buried more trouble brews that they must fend off as well as the combustible emotion they stir in one another. Neither is quite sure how to control their feelings or if there is any future for them once they have found the City. So many questions and so much running around seeking answers that when they finally find the largest piece of the puzzle and realize the answer has been looking them in the face nothing is the same between them or for them.

While Book #1 in this series was exciting this 2nd book is action packed and provides quite the mysterious romp with Max and Sabine. They are wonderful characters and have such depth of emotion that you know the goal here is to find Atlantis but in the end the quest is for love and you want them to succeed at both.

DeHart gives us a fun book that cleverly combines romance with myth and adventure! 2 Feb. 2011
By I. Cespedes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
n Desire Me, Robyn DeHart takes us along another adventure with the Men of Solomon. In her previous novel, we chased after Pandora's Box and its cursed bracelets. This time around, we are after the secrets of the lost City of Atlantis.

Our hero, Maxwell Barrett, is your typical romantic male lead. He's wealthy, handsome, and spoiled. However, he's also smart, ambitious and his life goal is in proving the existence of Atlantis. He doesn't want more wealth and he's not in need of a family. The loss of his family at a young age taught him to only live life for himself.

Sabine Tobias is the antithesis of Max. She's dedicated to her family which consists of her three aunts, to the community that she grew up in and to preserving the culture and legacy of Atlantis. To do so though, she must keep its very existence a secret from anyone who would wish to exploit it. The deaths of some beloved friends indicates to the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy that threatens to destroy it all.

Sabine learns that Max managed to locate the map that details the exact location of Atlantis. This was a huge accomplishment considering how well hidden the map had been. In an attempt to get the map back, she joins a card game and bets the map against Max. Her attempt fails and then she's off to think of a plan B.

As these things usually go, Max and Sabine are attracted to each other. Their goals are obvious, but their motives are not. Max wonders what a pretty young miss could possibly want with a dusty old map. Sabine understands the urgency of getting her hands on the map...the danger is getting closer! Max, by virtue of getting involved with Sabine is now in danger as well. What Sabine doesn't yet realize is that she has two enemies and both want her dead.

Robyn DeHart gives us a fun book that cleverly combines romance with myth and adventure. The characters don't exactly break the mold, but they are still witty, intelligent and fun to read. The secondary characters of Sabine's aunts are especially charming. The villains are...well, villainous (haha). They are selfish, conniving and brutal.

I enjoyed Desire Me, but I have to admit that I enjoyed Seduce Me a bit more. It could be that as the first of the series, it was new and refreshing. Nonetheless, Robyn has a real talent for bringing to life a world where mythical places and legendary objects truly exist. What if Pandora's Box and Atlantis were real? And what if these things or places fell into the wrong hands?

Desire Me stands all on its own, but for lovers of romance and adventure, I recommend you read both and see which adventure you prefer!

Great Historical Romance with Adventure and Heart! 24 Jan. 2011
By L. J. Engelke - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Fans of Amanda Quick's intriguing storylines and Madeline Hunter's wonderful characters will love DeHart's writing! Desire Me is The DaVinci Code with romance!

Maxwell Barrett is a member of London's most exclusive club, the Men of Solomon's. They meet in secret, each one searching for some piece of ancient history. One man's search is a mystifying as the next and Maxwell is looking for the city of Atlantis. He found a map showing the location of Atlantis years ago. Since that discovery, he has dedicated his life and studies to prove, once and for all, that Atlantis does exist. Finding this lost land has become his passion...that is until Sabine Thomas walks up to him and tries to win the map from him in a game of poker.

Sabine is just as mysterious as Maxwell. She is a decent of Atlantis and has to see the map in Max's possession in order to stop The Chosen One on his path of destruction. This evil adversary is killing guardians of Atlantis and taking their elixir, risking exposure of one of the greatest secrets in the world. The only lead Sabine has is this map, which supposedly has the prophecy written on it explaining how to stop this catastrophe from occurring. What neither one of them expects is the attraction they feel towards one another on their quest to stop this dangerous foe.

Be prepared to sit down and devour this book. The story is so original, yet so timeless readers will fall in love with it from the first chapter. There is something very intriguing about this book. The characters are just as fascinating as the story. If you love books about adventure, ancient artifacts with a bit of romance thrown in, this book is perfect for you. DeHart is a charming writer. She is not perfectly in touch with the time period, but rather has added modern touches to this Victorian era and made the writing funny and clever. There were many times I smiled or laughed out loud, enjoying the journey I was on with this book:

"She'd been surprisingly passionate. Yet full of pluck and fire. Precisely the sort of combination Max found irresistible in women...Under normal circumstances, he would pursue her, yet she seemed utterly unmoved by his charms. Of course, this wasn't surprising given that he had broken into her home."

Max is irresistible. He is so confident, so sure of himself, that it's incredibly sexy. But he is not overly vain, he is a strong capable hero. Sabine is the strong, independent heroine that is the perfect match to Max's personality. They feel an attraction towards each other in the beginning of this book, but it really becomes nothing more than that. I could see many readers interpreting this as a lack of development in the characters romantic relationship but really it is a consequence of the two being so perfect for each other. They are both so independent and driven by their respective desires with the lost city of Atlantis that the ignore what is developing between them. They become oblivious to how much they are starting to depend on each other, but at the same time, as the reader, you see their connection as soul mates.

This is book two in the Legend Hunters series, but it is easily a stand alone book. There is hardly any time or enough pages to introduce the other members of the society so the previous story is not necessary to enjoy this book. While the hero from the first book is introduced, it just a brief glimpse of that character and nothing more. You will not be lost in picking up this book without having read the first one. Although I'm sure once you finish Desire Me you will want to read it!

Fun romance that combines myth and adventure 21 Jun. 2010
By Gaby at Starting Fresh blog - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
In Desire Me, Robyn DeHart gives us another lighthearted romance with an unusual twist. In her previous novel, the Men of Solomon were searching for Pandora's Box. This time, Robyn DeHart uncovers the secrets of the Lost City of Atlantis.

The romantic lead, Maxwell Barrett, is wealthy and is only interested in proving the existence of Atlantis. He isn't interested in amassing more wealth, building a family or conquering society -- an event in his past has focused his passions.

Sabine Tobias seems to be Maxwell Barrett's polar opposite. She's dedicated to her small family and her community and has spent her entire life trying to keep the dream of Atlantis and their culture alive. Part of preserving Atlantis means that she must keep its existence a secret. Recent events point to the fulfillment of a prophecy that threatens to destroy what Sabine holds most dear.

When Sabine and Max meet, they find themselves drawn to each other just as they each try to keep true to their larger goals. A shared danger makes them temporary allies, but this merely postpones the eventual heartbreak.

Desire Me is a fun read that combines romance with myth and adventure. Though I very much enjoyed Desire Me, I think that I preferred the earlier novel Seduce Me a little more. It may be that it was my first exposure to The Men of Solomon and DeHart's world where mythical places and objects are real and found by archeologists, historians, and scientists with the imagination and skill to find them. I recommend you check them both out -- see which adventure you prefer!

Great Romance and Adventure 9 Jun. 2010
By Cinnamon Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Robyn DeHart's latest installment in The Legend Hunters series fully lives up to the great start the first book, Seduce Me brought. Full of passion, intrigue, and a good deal of suspense, DESIRE ME, is a great pick for anyone looking for a great romance.

This book begins in 1873 with our hero, Maxwell Barrett in his teenage years. Determined to prove himself and his theories, he sets out to find the fabled map of Atlantis. If he can prove the existence of this mysterious city, he will be able to prove that he's not just some crazy loon, but rather a person worthy of recognition.

I have to say that the prologue, with young Max, was one of my favorite aspects of the book. This is a fairly simple section of the book, only spanning a few hours in Max's life. Still, it is so packed with action and suspense that by the end of it there was no question that I would be reading the rest of the book. Ms. DeHart is not an author that strings you along for a while, making you sit and wait for the action to pick up. No, rather, she gives it to you right from the beginning. She hooks the reader and quickly gets our adrenaline pumping as we wait to see if our hero of the book is going to live or die. Seriously - the prologue was fabulous.

I'm sure we've all read a book before where the prologue or first chapter totally hook the reader. It's full of action or mystery and there is just no question that you'd read the rest of the book. Then you turn to the next chapter...and it all just falls flat. So much energy was put into perfecting that first hook that the rest of the story seems to suffer. Well, I'm thrilled to tell you that DESIRE ME is not one of these books. Ms. DeHart pulls us into the action from the start and continues the wild pace of her adventure through to the last page.

As the story progresses, we learn more about Max and get to meet the heroine of our book. There is a bit of mysticism surrounding Sabine as she discovers that she is a descendant of Atlantis. Along with her aunts, she is charged with protecting its secrets, but when a prophecy and a darker evil arises that threatens to destroy all they've worked for, Sabine has to fight to discover the city first. Teaming up with Max in a sometimes uneasy alliance, the two race to find Atlantis before the force that is leaving a trail of dead bodies in his wake.

Max and Sabine's relationship was wonderfully passionate and created a good deal of food for thought. While the two have an obvious spark between them, what will happen if they find Atlantis? Will their growing romance get in the way of unraveling the mysteries of Max's map? Will they both end up dead before either their mission or romance come to fruition?

DESIRE ME is perfect for any reader looking for a hint of magic combined with a beautiful romance and spine tingling suspense. My only suggestion would be to make sure that you're sitting in a comfortable spot because, as I learned, you'll most likely end up sitting on the edge of your seat throughout the book and that can have dire consequences for your tailbone.
