I have already got the author's other book 'designs for jewellery with glass beads' and that is the reason I bought this one. As with the other book, instructions are minimal to say the least, but the designs are so gorgeous I can overlook this. Again, I will say that this is absolutely not a beginner's book but a 'coffee table' book to drool over. The theme of the projects is using natural materials such as shells, wood etc and most are strung with cord, hemp and the like. All are open to your own interpretation with whatever material takes your fancy. I like all the projects and I'm glad I bought it.

Small book packs a ton of great ideas! 24 Feb. 2007

I was thrilled to find a book on beaded jewelry that focuses on using bone, wood, shell, pearls, and other natural elements. While I don't think the written instructions are very detailed or very good, the excellent photographs offer beautiful examples that should inspire a beginner or intermediate beader. The pieces are unique and lovely, and the pictures are sharp and clear, even if the instructions are not.

Amazon offered the book at a great price, and I think it was worth it for the inspiring pictures alone.

Lovely ideas on Italian style bead jewellery 23 July 2007

This is strictly an idea book on incorporating natural materials such as wood, bone, shells and pearls, some gemstones too with various types of stringing methods. The introduction states that it's not a technical manual and that there are other books that do this so it's rated four stars. You will not find any tutorials here, just a brief synopsis of how to put it together. Many of the projects use fiber, cord, ribbon and "fantasy yarn" (embroidery floss might work) so its a good resource for those looking to incorporate various fibers in their work. Even though many of the items use seed beads and rocailles, there is no bead weaving.
The jewelry is attractive and many of the designs are great for the summer. I think this is what "Bella Beaded Jewelry" meant to be.
