I HAD TO GET THIS BOOK FOR MY UNIVERSITY COURSE - IT IS A VERY GOOD BOOK FOR PEOPLE STARTING PATTERN CUTTING WEATHER AT HOME OR SCHOOL. IT HAS LARGE CLEAR ILLUSTRATIONS AND EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS HOWEVER MY TEACHER DID POINT OUT THAT SOME OF THE MESUREMENTS ARE NOT UP TO DATE. IT ARRIVE QUICKLY - THANK YOU VERY MUCH
When I received this book I was a little disconcerted. I was expecting a much thicker one for the money. However it does deliver the necessary 'light bulb' moment when you suddenly think "So that's how it all works", so worth it. Very visual approach.
This is one of the best books ever for Pattern Cutting, once you get used to working the scales out and your accurate body measurements it's so easy to make clothes that actually fit, *AT LAST* I did a 3 day intensive course on pattern cutting recently and this book was used and highly recommeneded. Expensive but well worth it.
This book is pretty great for anyone who wishes to complete simple pattern clothes. It tells you how to measure up the patterns well and shows just about all the basic shapes for clothing. A staple book for any collection.
This book got me through my fashion design course at college and once I was finished with the college copy, I bought my own. It gives instructions for making basic made-to-measure garments which are all easily adaptable to create your own designs. Absolutely excellent and I would recommend to any budding fashion designers out there!
Its full of useful instructions for making garments and once you have the hang of them you can even start modifying them to your own ideas. great for fashion students or anyone who loves making their own clothes.
I'm a fashion design student and this book tell me everything I need to know about pattern cutting. It's easy to follow and gets the job done well and quickly. Worth buying for any fashion student or anyone who wants to make clothes.
A very good book that helps you understand how patterns are made and the basic principles of altering patterns to achieve different silhouettes and details.
It is really rich in variety of pattern alterations and drafting. BUT - clarity and more detailed instructions have been compromised for this.
If you try to draft a sleeve block based on the instructions, you might find it harder than it looks like in the book. At some point it just tells you to draft a curvy line from A to B but I feel that further clarification is always the better way to go and it's missing here.
Maybe the next edition could include more detailed instructions.
Delivery wise - fast and accurate, as always with everything I bought from Amazon or marketplace.
My daughter has just started a three year fashion course at Uni and this book was the one recommended by her tutor. It explains all the basic pattern cutting methods, in easy to understand terms, it was delivered quickly, and was cheaper than buying on eBay .
