Synopsis

This unusual title focuses on reptile breeding to produce colour morphs that display unusual patterns on many different reptile species. They include boas, pythons, milk snakes, kingsnakes, lizards, turtles, crocodilians, amphibians, and others. Here is advice from experts that discusses both purchasing and selective breeding in detail. The book is filled with colour photos that indicate the wide variety of colours and patterns that can be obtained.

A comparatively older book by the Bartletts - but still a good one. It is still very relevant with the reptile morph craze reaching new, higher levels - This book serves as a nice insight in to basic morphs - and shows morphs of some species some people may never have heard of before, let alone own - a nice thing, to see that a book on reptiles features the less common species as well as the more common ones.

Poorly done, but nice photographs. 31 Aug. 2004
By Christina Miller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Although Bartlett and Bartlett have published some decent books on reptiles and amphibians, I find several of them seem rushed, and full of errors. Designer Reptiles and Amphibians is one of these.
The book contains a panoply of errors, such as poorly used examples and mislabelled photos. The accurate parts of the text are decently written, but if you are not already familiar with genetics and the species you're reading about, the mistakes may be hard to catch.
All in all, this book is a waste of money unless you want some nice pictures of some attractive colour morphs.

RICHARD BARTLETT HAS WRITTEN MANY MANY BOOKS ON REPTILES AND IN THIS BARRON'S BOOK HE IN ONLY 94 PAGES GIVES A GOOD ACCOUNT OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD OF CAPTIVE PRODUCED REPTILES..ALSO THIS BOOK HAS A LOT OF FINE COLOR PICTURES TO ILLUSTRATE THE TEXT.IT IS A GOOD READ AND I READ IT IN ONE SITTING.
