OK, so I am one of those sad people who still like toys and who spent ages looking at pushchairs and cots when our baby was born. This book has some fantastic designs in it, as well as a few over designed gaffes. All of which make for a good read. The good designs are a joy to look at, and the bad designs are a bit of a laugh. It all made me want to be a toy or 3D designer. I bought this book as a bit of personal history too, as in 20 years time it'll be interesting for our kids to look at. Imagine if there was a book like this about kids toys and equipment from the 1960s, written in the 1960's. Even the narrative will be a period piece in 20 years!

Brilliant book, with some lovely items just wish I had found it about a year ago.It would be good to be able to get distributors for the items in the UK but a bit of web searching and you can find most.

Great catalog of exemplary design for kids 12 April 2012
By Guillaume A. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
A the title indicates, this book is a sourcebook-- it's not going to detail the process of designing for kids. Rather, it offers a curation of splendidly designed items oriented towards kids, classified in several categories (furniture, toys, etc.).
There are also a few pages dedicated to very short interviews with well known designers (including John Maeda). These are a nice little bonus, but aren't what makes the book.

It's not a book you will read in one sitting-- rather, you will let it sit on your desk, and flip through it every once in a while to strike inspiration.

Fantastic if you're a designer, a must-have if you're in the business of designing for children.
