Product Description

Product Description

In the early 1950's in the suburbs of London, England, a small girl is left with relatives she does not know. Her mother never returns to collect her. Her story of growing to adult hood despite the dysfunctional and unthinkingly abusive family is at times an uncomfortable read, but ultimately her story is that of a survivor and of a winner.

A really good, heartfelt yarn about a disadvantaged girl from a dysfunctional background. An excellent effort from a promising author who clearly has a talent for descriptive prose.

I bought this book knowing nothing about it but I became totally immersed in Faye's life and found it difficult to put down. Unlike other `I survived my childhood and look at me now' type books, this moving story shows how, at such a young age, Faye adapts to and deals with the people in her life and the challenges she's dealt in a very courageous and pragmatic way.
