5.0 out of 5 stars Great - like the others in the series 24 April 2008
Format:Paperback
Have bought and reviewed Low Maintenance Gardens by the same author, so when I saw there were another three titles in the series I thought I'd try this one too as a supplement. It's fantastic for someone like me who needs stylish inspiration but also simple, easy-to-digest information on the basics Really handholds readers through sorting their green patches out!

very good book, has great tips before you start the big project. Lots of illustrations for inspiration, which I found very helpful. even has ideas for smaller spaces which some of the garden books tend to forget. would recommend too a friend.

Though the books are small and unassuming, they are exactly what I was looking for. They provide "How To" advice on a sophisticated level; more architectural, and conceptual than most current "how to" books. Helps sort out the myriad of options when designing a garden. For example, in picking out paving materials- she describes possible pitfalls - "Indian Sandstone is reasonably priced...but remember that it is porous, so will absorb water and, therefore, dirt and will look much darker in a few years down the line." Her guide on Low Maintenance gardens is also excellent, filled with tips about plants that may look good when installed but then become a maintenance nightmare.
