5.0 out of 5 stars Lovable Charactors, simple plot 18 July 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was the first modern romance i've read by Kat and now i hooked. The charactors were simple but enjoyable, pj and Dallas just seemed to rub along well (no pun intended). Its nice to know that not everyone falls instantly in love with each other. In fact these two start off on the wrong foot, but not for long enough to get on your nerves like some books. The concept of rodeo interested me also. All these big hulking men on horseback, what more could a girl ask for. I have since found out that this is actually the second in the set, the first being Midnight sun. Reading this book has definatly indused me to buy the first one. Happy reading, this is a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good. 3 May 2004
By Huntress Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Attempting to escape a rejected love turned stalker, Patience Sinclair heads south, to the rodeo. Originally, the trip was planned just to work on her disertation, but escape becomes the focus.

The rodeo is a whole new world. Cowboys, barrel racers, and courageous clowns have their own civilization in which Patience becomes enthralled. It has its own inherent romance, and Patience soon has to face her fears when she gets entangled with an overly amorous cowboy. Before trouble can get out of hand, she is rescued by the someone who won't be turned aside. Dallas embodies everything a man ought to be, and is willing to be there for Patience.

When the city girl learns that danger lurks even there, a serial killer is on the loose, she will need all her own skills and all of Dallas' courage to handle the situation. If she lives through it, it will be time to go home, and leave behind her heart. Can she do it, or is there another way?

**** Some writers pen such wonderful books that reviewers almost hate them; it's hard to write about the story without letting out too much, and then reading lesser books is painful. However, although Kat Martin fits this category, I don't want her to ever stop. She makes the settings and people seem real, yet still has the slight larger than life quality that makes reading her books an escape from reality. ****

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Read 28 May 2004
By Elaine C McTyer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. I could hardly put it down. It is not a great suspense novel, the suspense is of the mild type. The romance is good and the suspense was good enough for me.

Dallas and Patience are worlds apart in their careers, but love doesn't understand careers. I liked the tangle of emotions they had to go through.

I really enjoyed the facts about rodeos. I have never been interested in them, but some of the things I learned were fasinating.

This is not a spectacular book. But it is a warm, fulfilling read. That is what I look for in a book, not great soul-searching, or drama, but a warm, cozy, feeling when you finish it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Okay for me 16 April 2012
By Hope - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I liked the premise of this story, and even the relationship with Dallas and Patience. I loved watching the friendship of Patience and Shari, her travel companion. The life on the road was an interesting on to read about, the ups and downs and from town to town. The hang out and friendships that are made over the years. I was a bit put off by Dallas' sleeping with other women but still having his mind on Patience. If he couldn't get her out of his mind, why the heck was he sleeping with anything that offered? And I didn't really understand why he was so annoyed that she was getting her Ph.D. That was a big point of contention with them, and I don't see the issue. All in all, I thought it was an ok book, I am on the other hand, looking forward to reading her sister's book.
