I have been using Staedtler Ergosoft coloured pencils (set of 24) and I am happy with them but needed more colours. I did not need finest artist's pencils and this set of 36 seemed a likely candidate, especially as they are sold here at around half price. I was very confused by the reviews. I read a few 5* and 1* comments for balance. Some thoughts:
These pencils are not as pigment heavy as the Staedtler and they do not transfer colour quickly. They are easily blendable and with appropriate layering, these pencils can achieve good depth of colour. They can handle skin tones nicely. Being quite hard, any over-worked areas quickly become shiny, spoiling the desired matte finish as well as reducing any effect of paper texture. Someone suggested the pencil end colours do not match the pigment and this is true in several cases.
The tin is too large and cumbersome for sensible use as it takes up half my desk (slight exaggeration). It is also a waste of resources as one cannot refill it with individual replacement pencils. A tub or pot would have been better.
I would suggest these pencils are not ideal for younger children or for basic colouring in on cheap paper as they are too hard and do not fill in large areas reasonably quickly. I shall know not to buy the Derwent Artist set should I need to upgrade as I am advised they are little better than these.

Update: After expending a reasonable amount of time and effort in trying to get good use from these pencils, they are on their way to the charity shop from where I hope they will find a good home at minimal cost. I am moving on to Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils.

I bought these for my Art & Design class two years ago. They are brilliant pencils. They are pigment rich and look like a more expensive brand. My teacher was even amazed by them. If you are looking for colouring pencils at an affordable price, I would buy these.

I have used this brand before and I haven't been dissapointed yet. It arrived very well protected and on time. I like the fact that the pencils are in a tin case. It's easier if you need to take them anywhere and it is a lot better tan your usual paper box. Great value for money.

...36 colouring pencils for half RRP (at the time of writing).

The 36 come in a quality non-hinged tin and are ready to use.
Each elegant pencil is around 17.5 cm in length.
The completely rounded barrel is black, with a silver-coloured band and embossment:

~ DERWENT ~ Academy Colour ~ The Colour, (e.g.'Cadmium Yellow')

The end of the pencil is the same colour as the core/point, which is useful depending on how you store your collection. Mine started off pristine in their tin and I had every good intention of keeping them there, but my favourites soon find their way into various carriers when I am out and about!

They sharpen well to a good point with a quality sharpener without losing half the pencil in the process and I have had no problems with breakage.

The colours in my tin:

1. White
2. French Grey
3. Grey
4. Blue Grey
5. Black
6. Cream
7. Burnt Umber
