Oh wow.amazing 24 Jan 2005
Format:Mass Market Paperback
He's a werewolf with alpha issues - and a body to die for.
She's the personification of unspeakable evil - and smells like roses.
Now if they could just stop drooling over each other long enough to save the world....

Derik is part of the Wyndham wolf pack but he is starting to have alpha issues so must leave or challenge. Also part of the pack is Antonia(1/2 were) who is a psychic, she sees that the world will end in a few days (caused by Morgan Le Fay) unless Derik does something about it.
Derik finds Morgan Le Fay who turns out to be Dr Sara Gunn a slightly ditzy red head who has no idea that she is Morgan Le Fay a powerful sorceress (there are very good reasons why she does not know as her powers are unusual!).
Deriks half hearted attempts to kill her don't meet with much success, but he does manage to convince her that she is Morgan Le Fay especially when "Arthur's Chosen"
Come to try and kill her.
They team up and find themselves on a cross-country journey to try to change her fate and confront Arthur's chosen, and Derik is so going to try and get in Sara's knickers.

This is an amazing book, inexpressibly well written with wonderful characters who are well motivated, dazzling wit and banter and a plot that is brilliant with no holes to pick at.
Personally I think it rivals her "undead and....." series. This is such an amazingly fantastic book you just have to read it.

Enjoyed it 1 April 2005
By Mark
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I agree that this werewolf story isn't as good as the Betsy books, but that's just personal choice. This one is written well with plenty of laughs, just like all Davidson's work. If you prefer werewolf stories over vampire stories, buy this. It's fun and a quick read. I'm going to look for the two previous books now and will buy them. They are: Love's Prisoner, Jared's Wolf.

Not as good as Betsy! 28 Jan 2005
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have to say I am in agreement with one of the previous reviewers. This offering is not up to the standard of the Queen Of The Dead stories although it is quite entertaining. This is the first of Ms Davidson's werewolf stories I have read and I think this is the first full-length book she's written in this series, the previous two were I believe, short stories, included in SECRETS:6 and SECRETS:8. I think this book would have done better as another short story but if you like lots of humour and back-chatting between the main characters plus a fair dose of steam and you are not too bothered about the plot you won't be disappointed! It was a little too flip for me, I think the Betsy Taylor Series works much better.

Enjoyable Easy Reading
I enjoyed this book but it is very light reading. I wouldn't call the Betsy stories literature but they appear so compared to Derik's bane! Read more

A great read!
Like all her other books, this one is hysterically funny and very easy to read. If you are looking for literary depth, this is not for you. Read more

what happened to the ending
the idea for the book could be really exciting but what we are given is a 200 page book that just doesnt get good. the ending just seems to tie up all the ends rather quickly. Read more

Not quite up to her current standards!
The book didn't reach the standard her other current books have. A fun read but the humours spark present in the Undead and... books doesn't reach prior heights in Derik's Bane.
