Give this one a miss 12 Feb 2004
By S. Kerr VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Faith Bleasdale has a relatively original idea for her latest novel, but sadly fails to turn it into anything worth reading. Her writing style is clunky in the extreme, often painfully so... call me pedantic, but I found myself sorely tempted to red-pen the frequent glaring punctuation and grammatical errors! The plot just about holds together, but the book is distractingly badly written and does not appear to have benefited from any form of proof-reading. It has its redeeming features - one or two characters are well drawn (although not, unfortunately, the hero and heroine) and the plot has potential. However, the whole thing goes sadly astray; it gives the impression of having been hastily and sloppily written, never re-read by the author and rushed into print by a publisher who couldn't be bothered to read it properly either. A major disappointment, and a book which could, with more work, have been vastly improved, but in its present form doesn't deserve to appear in print.

Sorry, Faith!

A must have book. 21 Jun 2003
Format:Hardcover
Holly Miller has a life that jumps off the emotional cliff on a bungee rope! She bounces between happiness and despair so much, you want to reach in and give her a hug. This book proves that your best friend can be your worst enemy! A fantastic read, paced to keep you gripped the whole way through. Helen Bleasdale did us all a service, facing up to subjects that you really only get on Jerry Springer! I guarantee that you will not be able to put this book down. The 'Marriage Pact man', George, is an excellent character. Even if he is mad. She copes in a truly admirable manner, as life, and George, throws every possible bad situation at her. Poor Holly endures a court case, total humiliation, the breakdown of her relationship and still all she wants is a normal life. Does she get her wish? Well get the book and find out. The author has written so well, that you find yourself cringing along with oue heroine! You even feel a little sorry for George, and he really is a horrible man with no regard for anyone elses feelings. This is a book that will twang at your heartstrings. Enjoy!

Once I started reading this book, found it impossable to put it down. Had to read it to the end so only took me a couple of days to read. I enjoyed the whole book from cover to cover. I feel this was a great read for me.
