Based on the first review I decided to buy this book, I'm very pleased I did!
Its very well presented with dozens of high quality images and very clear scaled line drawings, by including pictures of the crane in "action" you can really get a feel for how field maintenance was carried out, this gives a good insight into the behind the scenes work required to keep Tigers, Panthers etc operational.
The fact that some of the cranes were still in use 50 years after the war shows how good the design was! One wonders if the British Army had similar equipment?
Although I'm not a model maker, the detailed drawings should allow someone to scratch build one, I'm really tempted myself!
The preface tells us that this is Volker Ruffs first book, the dedication required to bring together the material included and present it in such an informative way make this book a real credit to him.
