It is invaluable in teaching both sufferer and supporter the symptoms and coping skills. This book was monumental in helping me get through a severe depression that lasted nonstop for half a decade. This is one of the "must have" books for anyone newly diagnosed with depression or bipolar disorder (manic-depression). It is invaluable in teaching both sufferer and supporter the symptoms and symptomatic behavior associated with these brain disorders.
It is also one of the best books I have read for learning coping skills. Coping skills are needed while you are trying to find a treatment to end your suffering. Since that can take weeks, months or even years, coping skills are vital to keep you on track with your treatment efforts - and to help you during times of suicidal ideation.
This book was monumental in helping me get through a severe depression that lasted nonstop for half-a-decade. Now that I have been symptom-free for the last five-years (due to medication), I am able to look back in hindsight to see what got me and my wife, Melissa, through that personal nightmare. This book was one of those lifesaving gifts which got us on track immediately after I was diagnosed. It is a book of which we are most grateful.
I recommend this book to all my readers, and anyone suffering with depression or biplar disorder.

I gave this book to someone close to me suffering from depression. He had tried self help books and all sorts but nothing changed him as much as this book. It is a pratical book with worksheets to fill out and things to do but the difference I saw in him in a few weeks was amazing. He said the this book put him on the road to recovery. It did take him a few weeks to even pick it up as he believed nothing could help him but he is extremly glad he did give it a chance and I am extremly glad I got it for him as I don't think he would have got it himself. Highly recommended - he has not suffered from depression for a year now and although this book wont completely cure it does definately help.

This book shows in a practical way how patients suffering from depression live day by day and how they cope with it, and how they find deliverance and healing. Another book along these same lines which has helped me so much as I'm now free from depression for already a very long time, and I must highly recommend this book is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression" which is also available at Amazon.

Excellent resource. Deeply probing the individual for every feeling and explaining triggers, possible complications, and offering gilded direction to being whole emotionally. No other book on the subject compares. Perfect. 5 Stars!

This workbook provides a unique mechanism for evaluating feelings, learning to write about them, and formulating solutions. The exercises encourage the reader to search the soul for buried pain and come up with plausible solutions for living with past hurt. It is not a magic cure for depression, but a way one can peel away layers of depression by writing about feelings, relationships, and possible solutions. A very useful learning tool even for those who are not experienced writers or devotees of psychotherapy.

Ms. Copeland, a special ed teacher who has learned to manage her bipolar condition, is the ideal author for a bipolar workbook. Her book is filled with effective suggestions and support. The reader is encouraged to tailor her program to fit the reader's specific needs. The book offers enough resources to make this possible. I highly recommend this book to any bipolar person. I hope it becomes a model for workbooks for other medical conditions.

My CBT therapist recommended it - yawn! - but its actually very good, although looks like a dreary hard-work tome it is chatty, easy to read, easy to write in (the point of the whole thing) with plenty of personal space and lots of really clear, practical help with your depression/manic depression and how to manage it. Definately not a standard dreary textbook that you dread, but a pleasure to read and work on. The more you put into this, the more you'll get out. Good Luck! Oh and superbly (discretely) packaged and speedily despatched - thanks Amazon.
