I truly believe that you have to spend some monies to get a good set of ear phones/buds to truly enjoy your music,
so i believe that your money isn't wasted. I had a set of Bose headphones though great i but found that ambient sound was a distraction to the music, so i put in a bit of research and found these Denon AH-C400 had a great write up. On my first use i was a little disappointed, The sound quality was a slight tinny but amazingly clear and well balanced as advertised but left me disappointed. After down loading the app for the Denon player and EQ i was still not to pleased, had a bit of distortion on high bass notes. Then after finding the ear buds weren't a snug fit i changed to the larger silicon bud which proved a tighter fit and then BANG! found the sound quality was nailed! MAKE SURE THE EAR BUDS FIT for perfect sound. They aren't a bass oriented headphone but they are balanced and crisp clean sound with superb build quality.

First of all, I would like to thank Denon for sending me out the AH-C400's to review. These headphones, are the first "premium" range earphones that Denon has released. After being a big fan of the bass quality and quantity of the previous models, like the C710 and the C751 and especially the price point they came at, I was vastly interested what the first ever balanced armature drivers from Denon would offer. The C400's have a dual balanced armature design, which is worth noting about as it competes with the likes of Westone, Phonak Audéo, Ultimate Ears and so on.
The price point of these is what's more interesting, as these earphones don't come cheap. In fact they sit right in between the competition at £300 to £350, making these earphones come in at a very expensive price point. These can be found at AmazonUK.

Packaging, accessories, box content, overall first impressions (look wise)
Packaging:
The packaging of the new Denon range has impressed me already. The packaging looks very good, very professionally done, and looks visually appealing.
Top marks again to Denon for the attention to detail.

I bought these at the discounted price of £130 and I am absolutely delighted. I have been slowly moving up the IEM ladder for the past couple of years, starting with bundled 'phones, then I tried the Klipsch S2's [not a fan at all], had a pair of Sound Magic PL30's [brilliant but lost them], Sennheiser CX300ii's which I thought were the bee's knees. But then I was at the airport and went mad and bought a pair of Shure SE215's. These battered the Senny's with much tighter bass and overall performance. But then I saw these and thought at the once £350 price they must be able to give me a quantum leap over the Shures. They have. I haven't even burned them in yet but they sound so much more defined, spacious and exciting I am delighted by the marked improvement.

At the price I simply cannot argue whatsoever. At £350? Well, I don't know, because I wouldn't have paid that much for any headphones!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The Denon AH-C400s are a great pair of IEMs, despite their price tag being perhaps too high. They provide a great neutral frequency response, with greater attention given towards the mids and highs. I like them more and more each time I use them. With dual balanced armature drivers providing a bright, vivid presentation, the C400s are an impressive, well-rounded product that benefits massively from a lengthy wearing-in period. Bass response is detailed and very adequate, and suffers in no way from distortion. One complaint I've seen in other reviews is that these earphones are possibly not suited to bass-lovers, but being a bass-lover myself I can honestly say that the AH-C400s produce some of the best and most powerful bass I've experienced in all my time using IEMs, though finding the right fit with the right ear tips is essential. Noise isolation is excellent to the point of being almost hazardous, and care should be taken in busy areas and especially around traffic - keep your eyes open! Soundstage often transcends good into great, at least for an IEM, especially when real instruments are involved.

The build quality is sensational. I can't conceive of what it would take to cause harm to these headphones; they have an incredibly robust feel to them. I have yet to experience any knotting with the cable, and don't foresee any either. The in-line remote for controlling iOS devices is handy, and enables the user to change volume and answer phone calls, though I personally haven't used it yet. There are enough ear tips included to practically guarantee a good fit, including Comply foam tips.
