The pattern for this panda is very nice, although I would say that it doesn't look anything like the refined looking article in the picture. The head is much bigger and he is more hunched over in reality (in fact the position of the finished toy is more like a real panda, so this is a good thing). You also do not get the bit of bamboo.
The quality of the fur in this kit is poor. It is that thin, cheap fur that you usually find in fabric shops that mats easily and looks really scruffy. I called my panda Scruff for this reason. If it is being bought for a child as a sewing project, then this is fine (so long as the child is happy with it), but if you are making it as a gift, etc., then you are better off buying some more expensive, good quality fur and copying the pattern for a more professional finish.
The pattern is easy to machine stitch, although there are a couple of fiddly moments (i.e. sewing the arms and head to the body), but it should be no problem for someone who is experienced, and it only took me around 2 hours from start to finish by machine. Hand sewing it would be no problem at all, although obviously it would take longer.
All in all, a lovely product, but beware that cheap fur...
