Product Description

All six episodes of the ITV fantasy drama series starring Philip Glenister as Rupert Galvin, who comes to Britain from America to inform his dead friend's teenage son Luke Rutherford (Christian Cooke) that he is actually the great-grandson of Abraham Van Helsing, the vampire hunter in Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'. Rupert then helps Luke to fight the vampires and other supernatural entities - led by 'Half-Life' Gladiolus Thrip (Mackenzie Crook) - that are out to destroy him.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but not fantastic 28 April 2012

The series Demons is an OK series but not something special. The idea behind it is good but in my opinion not really thought through.
But it is OK to watch to kill time.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's the matter with everybody? 20 April 2009

I really enjoyed this series, because it was different, and it didn't take itself at all seriously, and thank goodness for it!
I also really liked that it is set in London, around the old areas of Spitalfields and the city - Jack the Ripper territory.
I enjoyed the look and feel of the locations, beautifully designed and detailed - especially the Stacks (the huge underground library of demon hunting lore). And while it moved a little too fast for me at times, I found it very entertaining nevetheless.
I'd like to see a second season (all those Buffy fanatics: remember how bad season one was by comparison to season 3) - there's so many places it could go.
If you haven't seen it, give it a go.

4.0 out of 5 stars fluffy fun 7 Jun 2010
I'm in the states but got a chance to see this show. I thought cool a young descendant of van Helsing fighting vampires and demons, Mina Harker as a vampire victim--too cool. Unfortunately I have to agree with the reviews that it's not as good as you'd expect. BUT I've seen far worse shows. This isn't a good as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the writing was definitely uneven, but some of the plots were good and the acting wasn't bad. It's a fun little ride if you don't compare it to anything. I think if it had gotten a season 2 go-ahead there was a chance that it would have improved--six episodes is more of a warm-up. Fans of vampire and demon shows and movies should like this enough to add it to their dvd library. By the way after seeing Philip Glenister in "Life on Mars", UK version and "The Murdoch Mysteries" I don't think his American accent is that bad--if you heard various American accents which can be pretty strange sounding if you're from another part of the States you'd know what I mean.Demons - Series 1 [DVD] [2008]
