5.0 out of 5 stars Best Side Adventure so far for the 3D system., 6 April 2001
By Faebinder "malec" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Demons and Devils (D20 Generic System) (Paperback)
This book is actually 3 side adventures and not just one. The first designed for level 9+ party, second is 11+ and third is 13+. Book is very detailed and and uses a combination of the Scar-lands and regular D&D deities and monsters. Creature Collection and Monster Manual are not necessary but recommended if you have a party of 5 or more players and you wish to add difficulty. All three side adventures are designed as a quest after a magical artifact. The first of those is for a Sphere of Anihilation, second is the Globe of Arden and last is the holy sword of Kraith. Of course all those artifacts can be substituted by your own artifacts or items. The three adventures are tricky and not easy to finish, as it does require a full team of players and the four basic classes at least at level 5 (wizards, rogues, warriors, clerics). Disable Device and level 5+ arcane caster is a must to survive and get through the tricky parts of the adventures. So far I have bought the three adventures put out by Sword & Sorcery of Necromancer Games and White-Wolf; none of them have disappointed me. I hope they keep up the good work. The other two modules produced by Sword and Sorcery are Rappan Athuk I and The Cruicible of Freya.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent One Night Stand Adventures for your Campaign, 8 May 2001
By "ntlacrobat" - Published on Amazon.com

Sword and Sorcery Studios does it again. After purchasing the "Crucible of Freya" I went looking for more of their goods and was not disappointed when I found "Demons and Devils". There is no hidden meaning here. What you get are 3 progressively more dangerous mini-modules (Levels 9, then 11, then 13+) that involve the old 1st Edition enemies, Demons and Devils. I think that the D20 system will be a huge benefit for players of Dungeons and Dragons, providing more than enough quality products. Back to the review at hand. Each encounter centers on retrieving an item of power that can be used by DM's as important campaign tools or items. Each encounter involves a small dungeon complex with traps and encounters, eventually leading up to the villians that the module is named for. Each villian is tough and should be challenging for any group of characters. I would recommend that the party of adventurers that plays this have at least one of each of the four basic classes. The designers and writers did an excellent job on this product. The maps, graphics and art work are excellent, conveying that "1st Edition" feel that they set out to capture. This module is superior to many of the WoTC products that are available for 3E. The information is well presented in the lay out and all in all, I hope to see more releases from these guys in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best., 10 Nov 2001

I book this book with high hopes. I was somewhat displeased with it, having ordered it over the internet. First of all, I thought that the book was hardcover. I was incorrect. But that is no big deal. However, the book is rather shallow in some places. The short adventures inside are cool enough, but they have a real feel of "standard dungeoncrawl material" to them. It's almost like they tried to submit this stuff to Dungeon Magazine and it all got rejected, so they put it in a D20 module. I'm not saying that this book is a waste of time. I'm simply saying that it could have been a whole lot better in content. However, on the side of merit, the artwork is great, the larger part of the writing is excellent, and S&S does include a "ultra-secret password" inside that allows you to download Web Enhancements from their website to update and enchance the book. Overall, I'd say that it's one of those books that I will use in my D&D campiagn sooner or later, but for now I've read through it and it's sitting on my shelf to be used later.
