“Tawny Stokes has created a brilliant paranormal world within our own. There are demons, witches, zombies, and all sorts of crazy creatures... The mythology Stokes has created for Demon Whisperer blew me away, and I simply cannot wait to read more about Caden, since I want to visit this world again, as soon as I can!” – Alex, Electrifying Reviews “The Demon Whisperer by Tawny Stokes, is now one of my new favorite books.” – Jasmin, Alaskan Bookie Blog “I wasn't expecting to like this book that much, but boy, did I LOVE it! Who doesn't like a book in a boy's POV? And what a voice did Caden have!” – Ella, The Clock Monkey blog “Action junkies and fans of The Mortal Instruments will love this book. I predict good things for this book, especially when focusing on the storyline and amazing plot elements. Most of all, the action; this is definitely a book driven mostly by action, and ready to give you the ride of your life.” – Mariella, The Escapism Project “This is a completely different out of the box read for me but I still loved it. Demon Whisperer is a dark fast paced read that will make your hair rise.” – Savannah, Books With Bite During a year-long coma--literally spent in hell--seventeen-year-old Caden Butcher developed a special power. He can speak to demons in their own language. Awakening with this new ability, Caden takes over the family exorcism business and becomes known as the young whiz-kid exorcist to the stars, obtaining most of his work from Hollywood. But what others don't know is the exorcisms are all staged with the help of his best buddy, Dantalion, a demon he met in while he was in hell. When an exorcism goes wrong, Caden discovers the demon inside a teen girl is not your normal malicious entity, but an adversary from down under who is hell-bent on Caden’s destruction because of what Caden did to him while in hell. Now with the help of Dantalion and Caden’s girlfriend Aspen, a skilled necromancer, Caden must track down the rogue demon before he can expose Caden as a fraud and end his reign as the one and only Demon Whisperer.

About the Author

Tawny Stokes has always been a writer. From an early age, she’d spin tales of serial killers in love, vampires taking over the world, and sometimes about fluffy bunnies turned bunnicidal maniacs. An honour student in high school, with a penchant for math and English, you’d never know it by the foot high blue Mohawk and Doc Martens, which often got her into trouble. No longer a Mohawk wearer, Tawny still enjoys old school punk rock, trance, zombie movies, teen horror films, and fluffy bunnies. She lives in Canada with her fantastical daughter, two cats, and spends most of her time creating new stories for teens. You can visit her at

Really liked this. Caden was in a coma for a year but unknown to everyone his soul was in hell. He picked up a few tricks and now can speak Demon. When he eventually gets out he takes over from his father as an exorcist. He made a friend in hell and now Dan helps him make money by possessing some Hollywood types and Caden exorcises him. When an exorcism goes wrong, Cadens life takes a turn for the worst.
Ive had this on my kindle for a while and not knowing anything about it I decided to read it. It hooked me from the start. Caden is a flawed character, he does questionable things. I loved Cadens and Dans friendship. It was an action packed story and Im looking forward to more.

Seventeen year old Caden Butcher is a demon exorcist. At first, the exorcisms are phoney but soon a malicious demon from hell comes after Caden with a vengenance and Caden must decide whether to resort to his old tricks or catch the demon with true demon-whisperer skill.

Demon Whisperer is a fast-paced and entertaining book. I highly recommend this terrific read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review: Demon Whisperer by Tawny Stokes 3 Nov 2011

E-book: Demon Whisperer by Tawny Stokes

Short Synopsis: After a year of being in a coma where he spent his time in hell, Caden wakes up and resumes life as an exorcist, but with a new power, of being able to speak to demons. When Caden accepts a job to exorcise a demon, all hell breaks loose when the demon escapes, and it's up to Caden to make things right.

My Thoughts: I loved this novel. Very fast paced, and had you wanting to read more.

Caden Butcher is not your average teenager. After assisting his father on an exorcism, Caden was knocked into a year long coma when things go wrong, and literally lands in hell. When Caden wakes up a year later, he gains a special power, being able to speak the language of demons.
After Caden's accident, he continues his profession as an exorcist, but with a twist. Being in hell for a year, Caden has made both friends and enemies. With the help of his demon friend, Dan, Caden is now an exorcist to the stars, charging the stars thousands for his serivce. But things haven't been going great, when Caden receives a call for an exorcism, with a demon specially requesting him.
When Caden reluctantly agrees, the exorcism goes terribly wrong, and the demon escapes. Caden must find a way to make things right, and to stop the demon before he hurts anyone else.

A seriously great read. I loved the paranormal aspect of it all, with a little mix of demons, exorcisms, and necromancy. Usually authors mix too much of everything to make it sound more unique which actually ruins the novel, but Stokes makes this novel just right. I loved the main character, Caden, and reading about his struggles with the exorcist world. It was also a fun and interesting to read how the author also added animal possession in the mix. The characters were surprisingly fascinating to read, and not everybody is who the reader thinks they are. This story has it all, with hilarious scenes, and awesome characters, if you're into the paranormal world, be sure to add Demon Whisperer to your list.

Would I recommend this book: Yes

Rating: I give this book a 4/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a ride! 10 Jun 2013

I won a copy of this book in Elle Casey's January Anniversary Indie Book Giveaway.

Oh boy, what a ride!

Caden Butcher, teen exorcist, read a bit like a John Constantine (Hellblazer) for a new generation. He definitely has the attitude as well as the vulnerabilities. The slightly-alternate world -- basically the same as our modern reality, but for demon possessions and the raising of the dead being relatively common and normal parts of life -- was executed splendidly. It hooked me right in from the first page.

The tongue-in-cheek title "Demons of the Rich and Famous" is perfect, too. It sets tone and shows black humor a lot better than "The Demon Whisperer", the alternate title.

I really loved this, and look forward to Book 2.
To use an expression I normally dislike: This is not your mother's YA.
Unless, of course, your mother is a secret bad-ass.

Caden is a excorist with a few secrets. He stages demon-possessions in order to earn easy cash. That premise alone is sure to hook and entertain. Earlier this year I reviewed Static, another book from Tawny Stokes. When I got the opportunity to take part in the tour for Demon Whisperer, I knew I had to read it as well.

Stokes has weaved another demon-filled book (with the occasional zombie) that is fast-paced and filled with fun. I *love* that Stokes has given her demons a human-like quality - even with their physical differences. Granted, they aren't all friendly, they are demons. Dan was easily my favorite character. Aspen also proved to be a strong, entertaining character - I would love to see a book based on Aspen and her family, the necromancers.

I found myself gasping in horror in the big fight scene - something that never fails to make me happy. I am curious to see where Stokes takes the series. If you are in the mood for action with a bit of romance and lots of creepy monsters, check out Demon Whisperer. If you haven't already picked up Static, I encourage you to do so as well!
