I didn't find this quite as hysterical as some people seem to; it was more sad than comical in its failure. It is a low budget film, so you don't expect great things of the effects or stunts, but on that score it does do quite well (though the makeup artists really did get the short end of the budget - demons apparently sport vampire fangs and cheap contacts from the goth shops). And it is quite ambitious in its way, trying to use the pulp story to explore major issues such as ethics, religious dogma, sexuality and sin. But ultimately it is neither one thing nor another. There is too much talk for an action film, too much sex and violence for a philosophical one (and not enough sex for a porno, which considering the major demonic players are a succubus and Asmodeus the Prince of Lust is a bit odd). The dialogue is poor, too, and the establishment of character is very clumsy. The cast do try hard, but they are fighting a losing battle with leaden dialogue and bad continuity.
