Product Description

Eclipse, Erutis and Chris find out that Granvirias, the Book, transformed Raenef into the evil Raenef. The Book refuses to return Raenef to his original self. Raenef IV commands Granvirias to change back Raenef V. Raenef V refuses to be changed back into the dim-witted Raenef. Raenef IV and Raenef V meet each other. Raenef V is surprised to see Raenef IV, whom he thought had died. While Raenef IV tells Raenef V that it isn't time for him to awake, Granvirias changes Raenef V back to his original self. Raenef IV leaves a sleeping Raenef V, after he burns up Granvirias. The next morning Raenef V greets everyone like nothing happened. He cannot remember anything that occurred during the previous days. Chris and Raenef discover Raenef IV's room. Eventually, Eclipse joins them, and tells them about Raenef IV. Raenef IV was very smart, but not very magically powerful. So, he devised a way of maximizing his low magical powers. He memorized the incantations for many magical powers, and even developed his own magical powers through incantation. Therefore, Raenef IV was more powerful than even the oldest Demon Lords. Then Raenef asked Eclipse why Raenef IV died so quickly.

Demon Lords are expected to live thousands of years, especially when they are so powerful. Eclipse told Raenef that approximately 150 years ago, Raenef IV used his mighty powers to kill many of the beings of heaven during the Hangma War. Because the beings of heaven could not overcome Raenef IV's might, they cursed him and thus he died. Raenef IV visits Meruhesae, and explains that the beings of heaven placed a curse on his name. A curse that would eventually obliterate all future Raenef Demon Lords from existence. Raenef IV warns Meruhesae (and all other demons) not to interfere, no matter what occurs at the Raenef Demon Lord castle. Chris confesses that he considers Raenef V to be his friend even though he is a Demon Lord. However, if and when Raenef V should become evil, Chris will be there to confront and stop him. Raenef V tells Chris that he will become a nice Demon Lord so he can keep Chris as a friend. The appointed time for the curse to happen arrives. The original beings from heaven who cursed Raenef IV arrive, and struck Raenef V with the curse. In the meantime, Raenef IV has arrived at the castle, and reveals himself to Eclipse. Raenef IV explains the curse to Eclipse.

Raenef V turns into evil Raenef V who is obviously more aware of the situation than the nice Raenef V. Raenef IV tells Chris to attack Raenef V, if he wants to save the nice Raenef V's life.

Finally, I got my hands on the fifth volume of Demon Diary, and I read it cover to cover right away as I have done with all the previous volumes. By now, I've started to take it for granted that each new volume will be gorgeous, hilarious, sweet, intriguing and exciting, and for once that isn't a bad thing: because DD never fails.
In this volume, Raenef's personality change is explored and, while it may have seemed like just a plot device to make Eclipse realise how much he likes Raenef the way he was before, it turns out to be much more than that: for a storyline so full of humour, this manga doesn't pull any punches with its fundamental plot.
I won't say anymore on that, or it'll spoil it for you.
However, like volume four, this book does get a little tough in places. I say a little because it's just that: it never gets slow-going or bewildering, it just means your brain has to be a little more alive than was required for the fluffier earlier volumes ^_^ There's more going on, and more threads of story being followed, so the narrative jumps around a few times.
And it's no bad thing. All I can say is, I can't wait for the next volume, even though I'm sad that there are only two books to go. At least we can be glad this won't become a stupidly drawn-out series: Demon Diary is too good to ruin that way.
Here's to the next instalment!

This book is one of my favourites because this is the book in which we get to see what Raenef is supposed to be like. You will have to read the first four to truly appreciate it, which I totally recommend you do.
it's a book about a young man called Raenef, who has just discovered he is a demon lord, one of the most powerful beings in the world, but Raenef is a kind and caring boy and is struggling to live up to the name of Demon lord.
This book is both action packed and hilarious, so if you're looking for a funny book with a fantastic storyline I recommend Demon Diary.

It's all about the comical relief! 15 Jan. 2004
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
Hi, Blaze here! I'm one of those people who just can't stand Manga without humor... And what's humor without the art to help express it? The entire Demon Diary series does Just that! The comical prases and mockery turns even the most cold-hearted character into arm-flailing chibi's. As for the story itself goes, DD is one of those series that just keeps getting better and more exciting with each installment. When the stoy gets a lot action, you can always bet that it will have you reading a lot faster, (and dont be too suprised if you find your jaw hanging open) And the art just makes it that more dramatic.
In the end of the book and can always count on Erutis, Chris, Eclipse (the one who does not want to be in any part of the humorous zoo, but usually finds himself in the center of it.) and of course Demon Lord Raenef, making you laugh until you feel like your brain is going to slug out from your head. The best series I ever read and I fully recommend it!

Love Humor? Love artistic manga? Love demon Lords who are unknowingly humiliating their servants? Then what are you waiting for? Start reading! ^_^b

The answer to the question... 8 Jun. 2004
By Lady_Sephiroth - Published on
Format: Paperback
Okay, since one of the reviewers was confused as to why the ending of volume seven never featured the older Raenef in the first volume, I decided to go ahead and clear that up. *Ahem* You'll notice that Demon Diary had two authors in the series. The first was Lee Chi Hyong, who left shortly after the first book came out due to college entrance exams. When Lee Yun Hee came along, she didn't pick up on that part of the story, therefore, it was never featured. Maybe they believed it was better just to leave it out...Who knows? I'm not going to spoil the ending for the readers, but I must say, it could have been slightly better. It was very good, but I was expecting more...Eh, whatever. It still remains my favorite series still!!

Cute little Raenef with a twist!! 10 Jan. 2004

Well what can I say?? I mean you know this book is good, they all are!! But really, this one is EXSPECIALLY good! I mean when a good guy turns evil, there's alway a bit of coolness to it.
It's got all the demon diary goodness! It's a really funni volume, but it's also really deep. You find out lots of stuff about the other Raenef guy. There is also another really cute moment between Raenef and Eclips...yay!! And ya know it has everything you expect demon diary to have.
This series is getting AMAZINGLY good!!! I mean you'll be surprised at how good it's getting. This volume is jammed packed of information that you've needed to know for a while, which is good. And ya know you can't ever complain about the cast of characters, with every volume they get more and more lovable!! I just can't wait to see what happens in the next volume!!
OMG there are only two tiny books left!! That is not nearly enough, I need to maximum amount of demony goodness!!! I'm gonna be really sad when this is all over, but at least I got to enjoy it for a little while...
Well anyway if you haven't read this series yet your weird for reading a review about the fifth book, but hey whatever! Anyway this book was great, and I'm sure the last books will be even better!!!
