This is the third book in Sam Stone's Vampire Gene Series and I was completely bowled over by it. Stone weaves a believable world once again in a way you wouldn't imagine. She writes with poetic flare and such vivid imagination that you can 'see' the world clearly.

This story follows Lilly through time and space on her incredible journey back to the present. And I will say this Lilly is the strongest and most vibrant protagonist I've ever come across. Not always good or bad she is frighteningly real in complexity.

Vampires as you've never seen them and no angst in sight.

Stone has a unique voice. Intelligent, passionate and provokative. If you like early Laurell K Hamilton, Anne Rice and Sookie Stackhouse, then you'll love Stone's writing.

An inspiring read 12 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
My daughter told me I got into vampires too soon. Indeed, when I see a city in twilight full of poster children for the half-dead, I think I know where she's coming from when she tells me that vampires are now just ordinary people. Therein lies the contradiction: cue Lilly.

It's been a long time since I've read a vampire story that has so gripped me. Check out my other reviews: my tastes are varied. For a reader, writer, blogger, discovering a new book can be botox for the soul; or meeting an old friend you never really thought you knew. Like a vampire's existence, the possibilities are endless and exciting. I look forward to reading more.

Delicious! 20 Jun 2011
By Michele Lee - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Sam Stone is without a doubt the heir apparent to the legacy abandoned by Anne Rice. Demon Dance is the third book in her Vampire Gene trilogy, which spans across two millennium while remaining intimately tied to four primary characters. In this volume new vampire Lilly has stepped through a mysterious door in time and space and finds herself on a journey though history to protect her own vampiric legacy.

Stone's prose is richly textured, vividly detailed and her vampires are the super-powered, fickle-emotioned monster horror fans have grown up on. One of the better small press offerings out there, and more affordable than limited editions to boot, Stone's Vampire Gene trilogy (Killing Kiss, Futile Flame, Demon Dance) really shouldn't be overlooked by curators looking to build and excellent horror collection.
