4.0 out of 5 stars Smashing heavy duty fun 14 Sep 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My initial thoughts on this game were, how a building demolition simulation could be entertaining and enjoyable?
When I first started it up after installation it was a little slow yes, but I thought I will persevere as I knew things should get more interesting as much bigger demolition vehicles start to become available later. You start the game in career mode at lowly novice level without much equipment or skill to do anything but basic jobs. As your money and skill start to increase by progressing through the game you start to unlock missions and vehicles not previously available.

Playing over a long weekend I couldn't wait to get back and play a new session each time. You start with the absolute basic tools and no money. Your first port of call is the training yard (which you can go to train yourself up every time you buy a new and more sophisticated bit of machinery. There loads of different and varied equipment available to try, certain machines only becoming available once you have enough money, and also have amassed sufficient skill level. There's even a couple of tools thrown in which are pure science fiction for later thrills and spills but I wont spoil your fun if you haven't already seen them. Alas although there a number of missions to complete, there are perhaps too few to aid longevity of the game.

Overall the game has plenty of varied and jobs to attempt in a number of different locations and scenarios. these steadily become available to you after your skill steadily builds up after completing the available jobs. Jobs often require skilful play so as to avoid causing too much unnecessary damage (for which there is a penalty).

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun techniques but no story line 26 Aug 2011
By Ms. R. L. A. Amelan VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
When we tried to install the game, the graphic card update suggested did not work. This meant that it had to be installed on a computer with a newer graphics card. It then worked with full functionality.

The game involves mastering techniques to destroy buildings using a variety of items and vehicles, including sledge hammers, wrecking balls and giant bulldozers. The activity is initially fun but not especially challenging because the time limits are more than adequate to complete every task. The graphics themselves are impressive, for example when you blow up a smoke stack you can see the individual bricks and it feels very true to life (only not as dangerous as in reality). There is a welcome lack of sadism also and this was pleasing. The only real problem is that the level progression is very basic and there is no especial joy to be gained from movng from one level to the next.

I think that I could recommend it for children under twelve because it would be enjoyable and is reasonably "innocent" in content. Adults would need more of a challenge.

3.0 out of 5 stars Smashing (if slightly limited) little game 21 Aug 2011

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
After spending 20 minutes running around swinging a sledgehammer, my first thoughts on this game were "is that it?". Then though, after reaching the next experience level, those trusting fools at the Demolition Company let me loose on some hefty big kick-arse vehicles and that's where the fun really began! The trickiest challenges appear to be those where you have to selectively demolish certain areas whilst leaving others undamaged. And it's all against the clock of course to earn those essential cash bonuses. Graphically, the cityscape is pretty good and is faintly reminiscent of a Duke Nukem urban scenario (except there's no mutants or scantily clad women of course). The vehicles look superb, even down to dents, traces of rust and scraped paintwork. If you have a powerful enough system to crank the graphical features up to maximum, lets face it, it looks pretty damn stunning. I'm looking forward to unlocking the airport area. If you can spare the time during a job, look around and enjoy the city going about its business along with posters and the occasional visual gag to enjoy. I suspect there are other Easter eggs buried in there somewhere. Sound is pretty basic but adequate. On the downside, I noticed that sometimes the collision detection was slightly off and there were some odd effects like a fallen beam creeping across the screen. No big deal though.

To summarise, whilst not having anywhere near the depth of the Railroad Tycoon type of career game, Demolition Company is still fairly enjoyable and is sure to appeal to those of you who love breaking things! Thanks again Amazon Vine for another fun little freebie!

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun? 18 Oct 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Without doubt the opening is great as is the first couple of games but after that it becomes a bit boring as nowadays all one dimensional games do. I really can't be bothered getting up levels because after a few, I have to ask myself - do I want too? Under 14's will love the challenge but adults?
Maybe new gamers with those intentions but not really my cup of tea.

Graphics are great and it's fun but perhaps I could also be just a fuddy duddy.
