There are many stands available. Although I have a "small" slass stand, purchased some years ago with a 27" LCD, I decided that for my new Sony 40" LCD, although my old stand is adequate, it warranted a bigger stand which would provide extra protection from playing children!
My Demagio DM023-BG-BL-Black stand is great. Its a quality product. Two rigid front legs; and a single MFD support at the back. MFD sounds tacky, but it isn't. The overall finnish of the legs, glass and MFD is quality. Its an excellent piece of furniture. It does not look cheap!
I have the stand slightly angled across a corner. The shape of the unit fits nicely into its position. A more rectangular unit would stick out too far. The rounded corners look good. I have a 40" Sony on the top; Sky box and two 5.1 speakers on the middle shelf; DVD, PS2, Wii and Surround System on the bottom shelf. Plenty of room for all the usual electronics! Note: some of the stands available will not allow a Wii to stand vertically... There is enough room under the unit to store a Wii Fit board.
The package arrived free from damage. Strong cardboard with the usual tape wrap. Inside everything was embedded in polystyrene. Glass shelves were also wrapped in foam sheets. No problems!
Assembly was simple. It took me maybe 15 minutes - just take care and don't overtighten! CARE: the middle shelf is supported in a metal bracket and held in place with a small screw - BUT the screw has a plastic "plug" for safety - in my case this plstic "plug" had come out of the screw during transit .... not a problem, but on first inspection of the package contents I did wonder what this bit of plastic was!

This is a well made stand and easy to construct. It looks great and easily holds my new Sony Bravia 3 40" TV. I would recommend this stand to anyone and it is fantastic value for money.
