Product Description

Ryson Acumen finds that his time of service to the people of Uton is not yet complete. Together with Holli Brances and Lief Woodson, they must work together once more to end a growing threat and to meet their own undeniable destinies. Their cause is not without loss or sacrifice as they struggle to battle grotesque forces of malevolence. Under the conniving guidance of the serp Sazar, legions of dark creatures rise out of Dark Spruce Forest and the serp turns his lustful eyes eastward. Targeting the outposts and farmlands surrounding Connel, Sazar forms a dark army to conquer the human city.

Even as Ryson and his elf friends struggle against such foes, they look to the powerful wizard Enin for aid, but the spell caster remains withdrawn from nearly every clash. It is within him to decimate the entire horde, but the consequences of such intended actions trouble Enin's very soul. An understanding of balance has taught the wizard more than caution; it has led him to the presence of a being of equal power, but a creature with intentions of malice. Enin's unwillingness to interfere in the choices of individuals is born of the belief that he must allow all those around him to seek their own path as well as their own ultimate fate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Series 20 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is really a review for the whole series of Delver Magic books to date. I have loved reading all 3 books one straight after the other and found myself wishing for more.

The books are all set in the land of Uton where magic has been re-released into the world and is causing havock to all. We follow the adventures and trials of Ryson and his friends as they battle the dark creatures that have been released into the land by the magic. I could not help making comparisons to David Eddings Belgariad and Malorian series when reading these books, although there are no dark gods in the Delver series there is the almost classic fight of good vs evil, along with Dwarves, Elves and sorcerers, all chooing which side to fight on.

The books definately kept me reading and page turning for "just a bit more" and I hope that there will be more in the series (I want to know if Ryson marries his lady love!!). This is the type of story that could almost by carried on indefinately, with more trials and good times to come.

Thank you and well done Jeff and please keep the stories coming

3.0 out of 5 stars Overdrawn 16 May 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've stuck with the series this far because it's free and a generally passabbly decent series. The first book was decent, if unexceptional. The second was really good and encouraged me to press on with the third. And it's the third which puts me off continuing. We learn early on that the hero is essentially untouchable and this makes for a dull story. Not to mention the wizard Erin is annoyingly over-powered and frankly annoying as he bangs on about fate and destiny. That said, there are good points as well and the battles are decently written. I just wish that the rest of the story had been so well-written, then I would have picked up the next book, instead of feeling so doubtful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read 21 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This series of books is fantastic if you love sci fi. I would recommend reading them in order though as it all makes a little more sense !

Based in a land where magic had been hidden away and when it is suddenly released through evil intention the resulting story is intriguing, funny and sweeps you into the tale.

I wouldn't want to give any thing away about the story but be prepared for elves, vampires and other such mythical creatures. Loved it all.

We can meet our challenges with honesty, faith, determination, honor, integrity and courage, yes courage. Or we can choose to deal in deception, anger, bitterness, and fear. When we do choose a path, we choose between right and wrong, good and evil. These are decisions of the greatest magnitude and define who we are. "e;

we all have challenges we must face, obstacles to overcome, and events to handle. Some of these we create for ourselves by our choices, but others we will face regardless of how we live our lives. Just because we are destined to face some occurrence doesn’t mean we can’t choose how we get there. And, just because we can choose several different paths in front of us, doesn’t mean we can avoid the same destiny that waits at the end of each path. "e;
