Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Delta Force: Xtreme 2 (DFX2) lets players control a member of the elite Delta unit of the United States Army. Battle throughout Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, fighting to defeat an evil cartel of ex-Soviet officers selling military hardware to drug lords and terrorists on the black market. Each mission objective revolves around destroying enemy bases, retrieving information, disabling missiles and other WMDs, and other military-oriented goals.

DFX2 uses the Blackhawk engine that the original DFX was also built on. However, improvements to engine have allowed much faster multiplayer code, support for more players, enhanced ballistics, improved anti-cheat, and significant changes to the balance of game play in order to support more vehicles but also better, smoother and more accurate close-quarters play.

Progressive spawn system has been added allowing the player to re-spawn directly into unoccupied seats in a friendly-controlled vehicle or at a forward spawn point. This improves entire tempo of game play from the original and keeps the action much more intense and frequent.

In single player and co-op mode, players battle through 2 campaigns with 10 missions . There is also a heavy focus on multiplayer gaming with all of the familiar FPS modes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Flagball (a CTF variant), and King Of The Hill).Up to 150 players at one time online via Novalogic’s NovaWorld community server site. Server has over 6000 active members.

Delta Force Xtreme 2 lacks a lot of the basic stuff we have come to expect from FPS games. However, my main issue is the need to have a gold account to play on the stat servers. If this was digitally stunning game with good shooting mechanics, it might be worth a monthly subscription, but it's not. And of course the busiest servers are the gold accounts.

The vehicles are drivable, which is good, but unlike Xtreme 1, you can't fly a heli and shoot at the same time. So going anywhere solo, you are a sitting duck. The 203 is a joke. If you don't hit your enemy directly, it won't even hurt them. Same with grenades. You can carry 2 anti-tank weapons, but it takes 4 to take out a single tank. Sniping sucks because on long shots, even if you hold in the exact same place, your bullet won't necessarily hit the same place. You can be blown up by clays even when you can't see them. The choice of weapons are pretty limited. Also even to play the single player mission, you need an Internet account and must go through their server to connect. Come on, for a single player mission? What a joke.

Overall I give this game 1 star because it's barely playable. Do yourself a favor and wait for Angel Falls. I just hope it won't be subscription based as that would kill it for me.

Well what can I say... Novalogic have just kept falling and falling.

It's sad to see really, as my first online game for Delta force 2, and was absolutly amazing for its time. I then therefore bought the following games (Task force dagger, land warrior) Which where.. Cheap spin offs really.

Until Black hawk down! Easily the best delta force game made. Will always be my favourite online game ever, and i've played my fair share (Call of dutys etc)

They then make Joint ops, good idea, it had fair amount of players but.. It didn't compare to black hawk down.

NOW They bring out the delta force Xtreme franchise... Which tbh, is going in a backwards direction. Graphics, awful for this day n age.. Gameplay (Which is what they usually go for) Sucks? The shooting mechanics are crap, glitches left right n centre, and the movement of vehicles are an absolute joke.

Delta Force Xtreme 2 (PC DVD)
Not only this... But to play in the 'Stat' servers, you need to gain 'Gold membership' which is a monthly fee.. Talk about stealing your money.

I bought this because I have the whole collection, and am a die hard fan. If you're new to the online scene, avoid this at all cost, it could put you off. If your a die hard nova fan, you may have to buy it, but it's still horrible.

Fingers crossed they get Angel falls right! Wouldn't keep your hopes up though, they don't give out infortmation, and when you have problems with a game, you won't get hold of them ;)

I loved Black Hawk Down but it wouldn't run on XP Professional. I thought this might be a good substitute. How wrong I was.

The graphics are abysmal. If you have played Call of Duty (4 or later) or Medal of Honor 2010, you will feel like you have gone back ten years. I can't believe they expect us to accept them.

The gameplay too is dated. The AI is rubbish.

Save you money. I wish I'd saved mine.
