When I first bought this Rotofry, it was because it said less fat etc. That bit is true, but I have had trouble with this fryer right from the off, the basket handle is hard to keep in place when you want to shake the chips during cooking. At first my husband kept saying it was me being heavy handed, and after a little while the way the lid lifts up become "too easy" and mine jumps off its hinges and this is quite dangerous. The Chips tend to stick to the bottom of the pan if you do not shake, and of course the tiny little button that comes out to hold the handle does not always go into the place it should. So the basket swings around. This is also the problem when trying to "dish up" and I ended up having to hold one side with a cloth as not to burn myself. If you are thinking I must be an amateur I can assure you that I have been cooking for over 40years and I am a fairly good and adventures cook, and we do a lot of entertaining and I get good comments on my cooking, so its not because I am simple. However this machine is now being put in the bin, as this week my husband did the chips and the lid flew off, and he said that this was the last straw, and he had been trying to stop me getting rid to save money, now he has admitted that he thinks that the basket and the lid are a "great big pain" and said "bin it" . so no I would not recommend at all.
