5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 28 Dec 2010
By StevenF
Got this netbook for christmas and i was instantly impressed! My sister got a Samsung netbook as well, so it's a good comparison.

.Screen is VERY bright, crisp and detailed! The best i have seen from a Netbook, and certainly better than the Samsung on that front.

.Hard drive is brilliant, it won't slow down the computer's performance if you shove all of your music on it, as i have already done.

.I noticed, when you first get the netbook, there are a lot of programs already installed which are not necessary.. i removed them as soon as i got the netbook and i instantly saw an improvement.

.Keyboard is great and makes full use of the size, in my opinion it's better than the Samsung and Acer netbook's (not used a sony, so can't comment there)

.the Track Pad is brilliant, at first i was worried because i couldn't stand using the track pad on my laptop. Luckily Dell have done a great job with it and you can easily navigate the 10inch screen.

.Battery life is great, not timed it but i can safely say that it will last a long train journey or short flight easily. I've also noticed that it doesn't use excess battery whilst watching videos, music or any other task that other netbook's seem to do.

.It's got a small ledge at the back of the netbook which initially i thought was pointless but after carrying it around the house, i immediately noticed that it can be used as a grip for your hand, brilliant!

. Charger is not like normal netbooks or laptops, there is no 'power brick' as some call it, instead the plug is rather big. Now, for me this is brilliant but for some who have limited space in their plugs, it might be a struggle to fit.

Note: I would recommend you install Google Chrome as it runs far faster on the netbook than the internet explorer that comes pre-installed.

In General it's a brilliant netbook! I would prehaps recommend upgrading the ram to 2GB (easily done) if you are going to be using it for using msn, facebook and itunes at the same time because with the 1GB that comes with the netbook, it will slow down the computer's performance.

10/10 for me, does everything i wanted it to do and more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Light weight and solid build quality. 16 Mar 2011
By Jack
I bought this Netbook to replace a laptop that was proving to be too heavy to be considered truly portable and had poor battery life and it fits the bill perfectly. The performance was very similar to the older laptop, but I have increased the ram to 2 GB and it is now altogether snappier. The new memory only cost a few pounds and Windows 7 Starter performs so much better now. Battery life is also good at around 4 hours so using battery power is now a realistic possibility. The keyboard is almost full sized and has a solid feel to it with no creaks or give.

On the downside there is very little to criticise. However, the touch pad and buttons are flush with the palm rest and can not be located very easily by touch. I sometimes find my fingers straying and preventing proper operation. The WiFi is also sometimes slow to connect without a little prompting, but this may get better with future driver updates? The other thing I would mention is that the Starter edition of Win 7 has been stripped of some of its cosmetic features making it look a little miserable. A small piece of freeware soon put this right and I am happy with it now.

Update: Left hand touch pad button became a bit sticky and needed a good press to make it work. A call to Dell resulted in it being collected a couple of days later by a man with all the required packaging and its return within the week fitted with a new touch pad and buttons. Good service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all round! 5 Mar 2011
I tried an Android tablet and a HP Netbook before deciding on this. The build quality, keyboard and screen are all excellent. Performance is excellent. The icing on the cake is the battery life and charging time; the former long, the latter short. I love this!
