Dell XPS M1710 - need to upgrade hard drive as now out of storage space!

any hard drive as long as it is a SATA one :)

it doesnt matter what size the hard drive is as long as it has SATA connections (which your computer uses). I would recommend a 7200 RPM hard drive (fast) and at least 500 GB.

Mmmm, I would look a bit deeper and you may find that just because it says SATA connector it will do. You will see that they are NOT all compatible with each other. Have a look here: http://www.allpinouts.org/index.php/Serial_ATA_(SATA,_Serial_Advanced_Technology_Attachment). You will find you have SATA-150 which is one of the older types. I would suggest you contact a shop and ask them for help like http://www.misco.co.uk on freephone 0800 038 8880. I am not affiliated to them by the way. By the way faster is better and is having a large amount of read-ahead memory.
