Have owned and used this mouse for 18 months. It certainly gets the job done, and looks nice, but a few things let it down imo:

1) Laser tracker stops responding correctly if a single hair or strand of lint enters the laser area, which is fairly often. Also if anything gets in there, it's not easy to get out.

2) Side mouse buttons could be placed slightly better, and be more responsive. Only a minor complaint here though.

3) Cheap build quality. This is what really lets this mouse down. The right hand side of the mouse is coated with a matt finish. This coat is not robust at all, and started wearing off early for me. It has got to the point where there's a large, unsightly bald patch. It looks and feels terrible. For a fairly expensive gaming mouse, I expect far better.

To summarize, the mouse has done an acceptable job, but the negative aspects I outlined mean I will not be buying this mouse again. Dell definitely cut corners in the build quality department, meaning this mouse doesn't age well at all.

It's hard to explain, but the mouse feels rubberised and the shape is very comfortable to hold. Even if you don't have giant hands, the side buttons are easily in reach of your thumb. Underneath, care has been taken to make sure the feet don't wear out too quickly, or collect dirt, and the mouse glides effortlessly across the mouse mat. The scroll wheel appears to be made of metal with a rubber surface and can be set to free-wheeling or incremental movement. Free-wheeling is brilliant for scrolling through long lists or web-pages, although obviously less appropriate for gaming. There is a button on the mouse to adjust the cursor travel speed and together with the alien's head logo, the indicator lights can be made to glow different colours, for which there is a desktop app. Although badged as an Alienware mouse, it is apparently a Logitech design. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

I though that buying a mouse from the Alienware range would be a really great experience but it was DEFINATLEY not the case.
First of all the scroll wasn't working properly , I had to scroll like mad for half an hour to get it working right.Since then i didn't had problems with the scroll.Must have had something with the inside mechanism that was in the way of the optical scroll sensor.
Second of all, I have a Razer Goliathus mat and this mouse have f*kd up all the mat surface cause it always gets caught in the mat's textile and tears it like hell.I tried to polish the plastic pods on the bottom but still scratches the mat and sometimes gets stuck in the textile. Not good while gaming is it ?

After using my old alienware mouse for a year and a half it stopped working so I bought another one hoping it would last more. Overall the mouse is the best I've seen and it is very comfortable while gaming especially with the dpi switch allowing you to control speed.

2 years after purchase, the left mouse button died (double click instead of single click issue). It was a great mouse while it worked. For £40 I expected a little more for my money. Alienware isn't what it used to be since being bought by Dell.
