5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful & Reliable 24 Aug 2009
Of the myriad Desktops currently being offered by Dell the Inspiron 530 is unquestionably the most reliable, not only in its performance, but its incredibly low maintanance. The large, rectangular screen is ideal for watching films in widescreen, whilst the increased functionality of Windows Vista (a standard with all Insprion systems) makes handling everyday tasks simple and efficient.

I don't mean to wax lyrical, it is after all the least one would expect from a 500 desktop. Nevertheless, I couldn't recommend the machine more highly.

1.0 out of 5 stars utter rubbish! 9 May 2013
By jafa
I have a Dell Inspiron. I will never buy another one. It didn't work from day 1. they refused to replace the computer and after much painful discussion (on the phone to India for HOURS) over several weeks where they made me trouble shoot everything over the phone, they said nothing was wrong with it and the fault was obviously mine. The initial problem was intermittent and therefore didn't happen every time. The computer got worse, wouldn't switch on, i gave up and returned to my old, reliable sony vaio laptop. Eventually, after SEVERAL MONTHS, they sent round an engineers who said yes, there is a fault on the motherboard. I asked for a new computer but as it was out of its 'honeymoon period' they would only replace the motherboard. So many things went wrong with it in the following months that i stopped using it completely and relied on the steadfast Sony. Periodically i would remind them that it still wasn't working, This crawled on over several more months. Periodically they would make me troubleshoot it over the phone from India. Frustrating, not good for blood pressure.. or migraine, and it still didn't work right.
I should've been more assertive and threatened them with action if they didn't replace it.. but you would expect them to want to provide a computer which actually works! Now, it's out of its warrantee period and they have happily washed their hands of it. Now i'm left with a useless piece of junk which just gathers dust.. ironically, the Sony laptop is still going strong!
What i've learnt, DON'T BUY A DELL !! .. buy a Sony.
