Bought as a replacement for a faulty fujitsu seimens I had for 2 years. In the 12 months that I have had my dell I have had to have a techician out three times and have had to have the motherboard replaced twice. The cd drive, which is rarely ever touched, has broken and I am currently on my 4th charged. The speakers do not work properly and the entire bottom is due to be replaced due to the screws falling out. Since being looked at by the first Dell technician, my computer is now slow and tends to freeze a lot. I have also had to change my battery, at a (discounted) cost of £56!! I have been told by many computer experts and computer companies that battery life should be at least 18 months, however, I have owned this computer for only 12 months (from new). On the many times that I have had to ring the customer helpline, I have found the employee rude, dismissive, condescending and extremely unhelpful. Only once have I spoken to someone who was not. It is diffiult to ascertain the problem and get it fixed and you end up spending an hour on the phone. I have also been told on various occasions that I would be called back by Dell, all to no avail. Other aquantances with Dell products have experienced other such issues, such as the dell technician breaking the keyboard and then not repairing it until the follwing week. Altogether, extremely disappointed and will NOT be purchasing a dell again, and would advise anybody considering it to think again and read all the bad press they have received.
