This is a good introduction to integration services, analysis services etc. The overview of bi and how microsoft envisage the various components to be used is great and the examples will get you on your way. Unfortunately the sum of the parts does not get you beyond what you can learn with a combination of online help and the examples that are included. Microsoft need to do dedicated books for each part of analysis services especially as many books tend to cover similar ground to the microsoft books. Was looking for something similar to the old microsoft Analysis Services 2000 book which I will refer to far more than this one. Also there is little help for people converting cubes from 2000 to 2005, there is a migration tool but for more complex cubes there are steps you can take to make the transition simpler.

Good overview of BI 9 May 2006
Format:Paperback
This book is a good introduction to the Business Intelligence features of SQL 2005. For people new to the topic, it provides a clear explanation of the concepts, before moving on to implementing a complete solution for a fictitious company. It clearly demonstrates the use of the various BI features of SQL 2005 and gets you going on each them - Integration Services for loading the data, Analysis services for processing the cube, and Reporting Services for providing access to reports. But you will probably need other books or training to make the most each of the different features.

I must say this is great book for people interested in BI area.

Within couple of days that book will give me huge progress in Business Intelligence stuff.

That book was very, very helpful in understanding (especially graphs explaining MDX functions, hierarchies etc.) a lot of BI theories and practice.
