About the Author

M.J. Rose (www.mjrose.com) grew up in New York City mostly in the labyrinthine galleries of the Metropolitan Museum, the dark tunnels and lush gardens of Central Park and reading her mother's favorite books before she was allowed. She believes mystery and magic are all around us but we are too often too busy to notice... books that exaggerate mystery and magic draw attention to it and remind us to look for it and revel in it. Rose lives in CT with her husband the musician and composer, Doug Scofield, and their very spoiled and often photographed dog, Winka. Her most recent novel SEDUCTION (Atria/S&S May 7 2013) was chosen Book of the Year by Suspense Magazine and was chosen as an Indie Next Pick. Her next novel, THE COLLECTOR OF DYING BREATHS will be released April 8, 2014. Her non-fiction has appeared in many magazines including Oprah Magazine and she has been featured in the New York Times, Newsweek, WSJ, Time, USA Today and on the Today Show, and NPR radio. Rose graduated from Syracuse University, spent the '80s in advertising, has a commercial in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and since 2005 has run the first marketing company for authors - Authorbuzz.com The television series PAST LIFE, was based on Rose's novels in the Reincarnationist series. She is one of the founding board members of International Thriller Writers and currently serves, with Lee Child, as the organization's co-president. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book kept me gripped from the first page. If you are looking for something a bit different then this book is perfect but, read "The Halo effect" first, as this is the next book in the Morgan Snow series.

I would say this is worth a read; I downloaded it as it was free at the time and I'm a massive fan of crime fiction. This definitely has something original, which is getting more and more rare in this genre. The style of writing isn't particularly great and the main character, Dr Morgan Snow, isn't all that inspiring but I would recommend this due to the storyline. The writer has created a society that has similarities with Eyes Wide Shut but is somewhat deadlier - without saying too much, one of the revelations at the end of the novel was a total suprise!

A good read, if somewhat unbelievable. Well written and suitable to while away the time.
I have read all the books in the series.

Really enjoyed the different storyline in this, never read a book on a sex therapist before and the mystery and exciting story throughout was great. Love the series

I have to give a star however I would rather have given Minus Four Stars...it was free and way off my sort of reading...preposterous plot set in New York where there are more men than women...Thorazine inhibits erections so how would the plot work?...the tattoos?...what exactly did the bidder get for their money?...what was the slaves reward? HIV & other transmissible diseases?
