My father was diagnosed with diabetes when i was younger, he followed the diet carefully but after a few years he slipped and stopped being so careful about his food. I am now 17 and enjoy baking but became frustrated that nothing i baked was appropriate - he is now back on the diet and doing better than ever. I wanted to be able to make a dessert that my whole family could enjoy and so i scoured Amazon looking for a good book. It was not that he felt left out, more that i wanted to have the choice to include him. However, very few recipe books had any reviews so i took a shot in the dark and bought this one.

I have had the book 2 weeks and made the ginger cake with fresh ginger and the cranberry muffins with a hint of orange. Both recipes were easy enough to follow and came out looking pleasant. I was happy to discover that the desserts were yummy enough for the whole family to enjoy and i now plan ahead for treats for the family with the confidence that my father can join in. The book has alot of nutritional information and, though the portion sizes are a little strange i recommend it highly. The only crticism i have is that the book was originally amercian so some of the measurements and products are a little off. All the ingredients so far are readily available but may require a little translation.

Hope you enjoy

The book has arrived in excellent condition, but it won't be that way for long because I can't wait to try these recipes!!!
At last, a diabetic cookery book for people who like to bake! It's American, but the recipes are given in oz as well as cups and the ingredients look pretty self explanatory mostly.

They are no sugar substitutes suggested and most of the recipes include massive amounts of white or brown sugar in them. This is not a good book to use if you are to be cooking for someone with diabetes.
