Admittedly, this reviewer with is addicted to Dutch police procedurals as seen through the eyes of Inspector Dekok.
Mrs. Hasbergen does nightly rounds in the large office building where she resides, as a successor to her husband. The building superintendent receives an apartment on the top floor.
She discovers Mr. Vredenburg, President of the Dredging Company, in the boardroom on her nightly rounds. The president is dead. Mrs. Hasbergen goes up to her apartment to call someone, but who? The doctor? The police? She decides that, in her shock, she might have missed some important information, and returns to the board room.
The most important missing fact: the body is gone. The next day, Mrs. Hasbergen learns from one of the secretaries that Mr. Vredenburg has left for a vacation in the Bahamas.
Join Mrs. Hasbergen in asking Inspector DeKok: "What happened to Mr. Vredenburg?" You'll enjoy learning the answer.
