Product Description

The Definitive Guide to Writing on Your Terms Using Your Own Honest-to-God, Gut-Wrenching Voice is a digital book that includes 118 pages of content, exercises and samples of my own writing, as well as videos to inspire.

This book is for writers who need help figuring out their voice, how to develop it, what tools they need to make it happen, how to use those tools and how to package it all up. It is information, challenge, inspiration, strategy, tips, and practical advice on how to be genuine and clear.

What’s it worth to you to do something you’ve dreamed about your whole life?

This is a step-by-step guide to help you put your guts on the page. Say what you mean, how you mean it, and without apology. You don’t need anyone’s permission to write, or to write what you want. You are the only one holding you back. You have the power to change everything.

What you get:
• Specific ways you are holding yourself back.
• A detailed guide showing you everything you need to put an end to writer’s block.
• A checklist to help you get writing NOW.
• How to quash the internal editor forever.
• How to avoid the number one mistake that causes people to quit before they even get going.

In the time it takes to read it, you’ll know what took me more than a decade to figure out.

If you’ve had an idea for a story rattling around in your head and need help getting it out …
OR if you always wanted to write but convinced yourself you didn’t have the time, talent or wherewithal …
OR if you want to take what’s beating inside your chest and throw it onto the page with fury and passion …
This book will help you with that.

More About the Author

Rebecca Tsaros Dickson writes. Because it's what she knows.

Stints as a reporter for two daily newspapers, which included two U.S. Presidential Primary races, taught her the value of a well-chosen word. She left journalism in 2006 to play Momma, but instead found herself filling blank pages (hundreds) while the kids napped. Her first book was released in November 2010. The collection of short stories, aptly titled "I Could Tell You Stories," was released with its own playlist and a boatload of art.

Her newest release, "Say My Name," began as an experiment on her blog. A fictional story about high school lovers who reconnect in their 40s, it rides the edge of life's toughest moments. It aims at teaching us how we interact as people through voyeuristic scenes of love and loss. And it is raw with emotion, a style which began with "I Could Tell You Stories."

Her new project, temporarily dubbed "Don't Ruin my Life: Crap my kids say" is in the works.

Becky remains feisty, brash and unapologetic. It took her 39 years to figure out that she's perfectly okay. In October 2012, she will turn 40. She plans to celebrate this milestone by spending every day from now until then scratching things off her bucket list.

Becky lives with people - and too many dogs - in the middle of nowhere, New Hampshire, USA. For now, it's where she belongs.

I am lucky. I write without an inner critic querying every word. That is great for a quick dart of inspiration and getting something done. This book helped me remove the other traits and mistakes which had stopped my novels progressing from drafts, fragments and outlines.

This book completely changed my thinking about writing and what was holding me back. Now I write something everyday and love it. I only wish she had written this sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST Guide for ANY Writer in a Slump 24 July 2013
By Kellie Elmore - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I read The Guide at a time when I thought my book was at a stand still. The advice Ms. Dickson gives is not only encouraging and motivational, but insightful and revealing as to why we as writers often hit walls. And The Guide is a big wrecking ball that brings them down. My book that once sat like a halted train was once again chugging along steadily after reading this. So happy to have this book on hand and I still turn to it when I need a good kick in the...

5.0 out of 5 stars No Quarter! 24 July 2013
By Dennis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If you want a happy-talk, feel-good motivational book, this ain't it. Go watch reruns of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. Becky's going to pick you up by your book covers and shake you until a story falls out. The book is called "Writing on Your Terms" but she has some pretty strong recommendations. Like using exclamation points. She loves 'em!! Ha ha ha.

Really, though. Her feelings about certain punctuation borders on the unnatural. You've been warned.

4.0 out of 5 stars My name is Cynthia and I am a writer. 29 July 2013
By Cynthia Neilson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After years of hearing "You're a great writer" from people who are not even related to me, it's time to take my writing addiction to the next level. I could be the poster child for Ms. Dickson's "wall of shame" claims and excuses for not finishing what I've started. I am using her book as a writing intervention, her words a prescription for my procrastination. I am holding myself accountable to her because I like her style, her sense of humor and her unabating encouragement and belief that we can and we will write. I would give the book five stars, but I am saving the last one for the new review I write for her when I graduate as a published author. Changing your email or wearing a disguise is futile Becky...it's on. Here I come.
