I was lucky enough to receive the second edition, which seems to go right up to a couple of months ago, and includes the Virage. The content is unbelievably complete, almost down to details on how the wheel nuts altered between model years. If you are looking to buy a Vantage or a DB9 as I am, then this is a great buy. It has already put me off the idea of buying one of the earlier models, such are the changes after a couple of years. Invaluable!
The only criticism I would have (I almost gave a 4-star rating, but felt this would be unfair given the amount of research and compiling that has clearly gone into the book) is that the layout is a bit of a shambles. Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be little structure to the book, as if the publisher didn't offer the author any help with the finished product and was just happy to do the print run. The chapters are all over the place and I actually found it quite difficult to find some of the information I was looking for quickly. A bit like with a novel, I had to read the entire book from cover to cover. A Dorling-Kindersley, this is not.
Don't let this put you off, however: it's a superb bit of research and you won't find a better book on modern Astons if you're thinking of buying a used model. Expensive for a paperback, but you'll understand why when you see how many facts are crammed in there (the photos are superb and there are loads of them, too), and when you consider a used V8 Vantage or DB9 is at least £40,000, it's an invaluable investment.
