Product Description

All-Weather racing started in Britain in October 1989, at Lingfield. Since then this new type of horseracing has grown in popularity, along with the quality of the racing. There are now five All-Weather tracks in the UK, at Wolverhampton, Lingfield, Southwell, Kempton and Great Leighs, Britain's newest racecourse, as well as at Dundalk in Ireland. Although the approach to winner finding on sand remains basically the same, the idiosyncrasies of the new surfaces need explaining. Form shown on the turf should be used sparingly in trying to predict the outcome of a race on sand. Written by acknowledged expert, known as 'The King of the Sand', Dave Bellingham has been studying racing on the All-Weather since its start, and has accumulated a wealth of data and statistics on how to find winners.

My forays into betting on the all weather have increased in the last year or so and I have been looking around for a simple single book with all the relevant information that that the pundits and tipsters bandy about. This would seem to be the only book that meets this requirement.

But where the book falls down is not being clear as to exactly what it is trying to achieve and who it is aimed at - the part time punter, the professional, someone looking for a system etc. There is useful information in the book about the particulars of the 4 British Courses and Dundalk in Ireland, but these can be quite hard to find. But last part of he book is a diarised account of the author visiting the tracks and how he did based on what has been included before.

The book is now 3 years old and thngs have moved on and Id hope that the author goes for a thurough review and rewrite for the next edition. If you know nothing about AW racing in Britain or are considering data gathering for future betting then this book will be of some use to you, otherwise I suspect it will disappoint.

All weather racing 30 Nov 2010
My mum asked me to get this book for her as she is a great racing fan. She thought it was not very good and not worth buying.
